I just paralled three lithium battery's and want to add more. All manufactures seam to say fore maximum. Why can you not add more?

Need more information, what brand what size, 13,24 or 48 volts? What manufacturer?

If you want to add more, you may need to consider building your own battery from cells and a BMS. More because doing it that way you learn the specs of each component and what the limits are. For your batteries, I would not want to go beyond what the spec sheet says.

Are you sure this is a 4 in parallel and not in series limit?

Maximum of four, usually refers to series connection for 48v systems. This is due to BMS voltage rating in each 12v, four cell battery pack. Some cheap 12v LFP batteries are made with 20-25v BMS's and should not be stacked for higher system voltage.

In parallel there is current sharing variance. As long as one of the parallel batteries is not being overdrawn or overcharged with current above the maximum allowed for battery you can added as many as you want in parallel without damage.

You should periodically check parallel batteries with clip-on DC ampmeter to keep tabs on load current sharing.

Keep in mind it is possible for one or more of the parallel batteries' BMS to open leaving load and charge current to be taken by other batteries.
