Off-grid solar in snow region of Upstate NY

I had a new well drilled and am now planning for a solar well pump. I use my property seasonally in Upstate NY. I will not be there when there is heavy snow fall. I am planning ground-mount solar panels. Will covering the panels with a tarp protect them if they are covered with heavy snow? Since there will be (8) 100 watt panels in total, I was also thinking I could move the panels indoors during the winter when not in use. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

There is no need to cover or protect the panels from snow, they are designed to be installed outside. You will want to make sure your ground mount is build to handle the expected snow loads in the winter.
