To tie into the house ground or an independent PV ground rod?

I’ve read both. A recent call with signature solar confirmed the PV (DC) ground should be independent from the house (AC) ground.

The inverter would be tied in to the house ground.

Thoughts?

Also, any objection to using 10awg PV for the ground when in conduit? Array is under 15amps. Exposed grounds will be the required 6awg minimum.

One grounding system for everything.
If you already have a grounding system. All new equipment is connected to that.

There shouldn't be any DC grounding. Neither DC negative or positive should be connected to ground.

Everything should be.

#10 is fine. #14 is the minimum requirement, for a 15a circuit.

Thanks Tim.

Any idea why signature solar would say that the PV array should be on a separate ground?
