Hello,
I have a Honda EM5000S (not SX, etc., just S). It's about 15 years old and has been operating well. Earlier this spring it wasn't producing AC and I solved that by flashing the field. Presto, it was producing AC again. It may have been 4 - 6 months since it last ran so that didn't concern me. Unfortunately, that's happened a few more times with the shortest time off being maybe 10-14 days. I've added jumpers to the battery and field so that it's easy to flash and the generator produces full watts as expected.
Is the need to repeatedly flash the field after being idle 2-4 weeks indicative of anything? User error? A failing unit?
Thanks.
Here's a photo of the generator:
