I started another post looking for resources on general electrical knowledge, and in it I listed some of the resources I've already read/watched. I figured a post specific to those resources might be useful for beginners (and non-beginners). This is an excerpt from that other post:

Added some new resources, most notably this video:
I find this video to be the best I've come across in terms of making a high level but not overly simplistic conceptual overview and in making a subject that is not very intuitive for most people much more intuitive. Well worth the watch if you are new to electricity, or not so new, but find it to be an 'un-intuitive' subject.
