Just posting this to help some one in the future. Well, Hello future person! Here's what you need to know! If your SMA Sunny BOY throws error code 6803 or 6805 you will think there's a malfunction. But that PV input will still work. You can clear the error by going to DeviceParameters->Device->Inverter->Operation->Reset Operating Data (reset events), and it will clear the error until tomorrow. but wait there's more....
The solution according to SMA is that when you switch strings on the unit, it has learned characteristics of your strings and will throw this code if something dramatic changes. So reset "learnings" is what they told me to do. DeviceParameters->DC SIDE->String Failure Detection->Reset Operating Data (restart learning).
I guess this is a good thing so that if something changes a lot to do with the strings, it'll throw a code, but they could at least put this in the manual. Instead the manual says "contact SMA service".
