We purchased a travel trailer last fall and I love upgrading the systems. Next is the Victron battery monitoring system. The trailer has two 6v Interstate GC flooded golf cart batteries on the tongue so the shunt can't be installed in the boxes due to corrosive fumes.
I'm planning to install the battery monitor shunt in a IP66 waterproof box bolted to the frame behind the coroplast (the screwed on plastic underbelly of the trailer). Will install appropriate watertight glands for the main battery cables and a smaller one for the aux. cables. The box should be close to water tight and the coroplast will block all the road spray.
I've watched videos of folks installing the shunts in the bilges of boats that would be much wetter than this placement.
Anyone see a problem with this install?
Thanks.
