Hi, I'm working on a semi-portable small system. Is using one of the new LiTime 38.4V 55Ah or 51.2V 60Ah batteries a good or crazy idea for a small solar system?
The 36V 55Ah is 37lbs/17kg and about $500 currently, so it's interesting to me. It’s more expensive than 3 × 12V 50Ah batteries, but much simpler and I think more compact.
However, this would put me into a 36V system, which as far as I can tell is not so common.

The 51.2V 60Ah golf cart battery might be an alternative, but it's heavier and more expensive per kWh. The surge rating sounds nice but I don't really need it, so something cheaper with a 1C discharge rating would be fine.
I think I'd prefer 48V (51.2V) at 40Ah capacity, but I don't see any such batteries available.

The reason I'm considering low capacity higher voltage batteries for the first time is because the $90 Victron 48V 20A solar charge controller is such a good price now. That and hating 12V having to use bigger than 10AWG wire for everything.
