That could be a fun project, most SG teardowns I've ever seen just have DC wires from the battery pack to the control/inverter/display board setup. In theory the internal guts don't know anything about what's plugged into the wire jack. About the only thing I can think that would be an issue is that the built-in shunt for the capacity display is probably hard programmed for the AH rating of the factory pack, I.E. it will show almost dead because it Thinks the 50ah onboard pack has had 50Ah taken out of it, not knowing there's another 250Ah still left in the cells.
