I've just installed my 150/35 Victron charge controller and connected it to the DC breaker from my PV panels, but I don't yet have a battery (having trouble sourcing a LifePO4 in the UK) and wanted to know if the controller will let me configure it from the power supplied by the PV's alone or if it will only work when a battery is connected?

That's what I was afraid someone would say :) but thanks for the confirmation....I'll have to wait until I can source a battery before being able to test the output of my panels :-(

It is important that the MPPT be connected to its battery before the panels, so it can establish its working voltage. Once that's done, it can be powered by PV input alone.
I guess I could connect a 12v Lead Acid battery in the first instance and then replace it with the new LIFEPO4 when I can get one (and update the config of the controller of course)?
