What is considered 50%

Currently I have a 24 volt system. I have eight 6 volt batteries hooked up in series then parallel to make 24 volts, all works fine.
These are sealed gel batteries CSPower brand. Just wondering what is a 50% depth of discharge or should I use a battery monitor?

Idealy use a shunt based battery monitor suitable for lead acid, ( Victron),
Else, light loads 24 volts, heavy loads 23 volts, very aproxamate guess.

I am better off reading used amp hours as opposed to voltage?

I keep our low voltage cutoff to 23.8v.

Absolutely. Voltage will vary based on your loads. Used amp hours is going to be the most accurate.
