I'd like to know how many (active) members are here, and what the monthly growth rate of this community is?
Does DIY solar forum have enough potential to become big enough to lobby for higher quality world shipment procedures?

Update as of April 24 2022:
From Counting and approximating guesses there are approximately
13 000 so called Active ( scoring ) members.
From a logarithmic slightly optimistic assumption from the above number there would be about
3400 very active members.
These are the members that could be active enough to participate in any kind of "lobbying" effort.
Members seem to come and go in rapid pace.
I estimate that DIY solar Forum needs about 10 times that number to have a potential to make any kind of difference in
how ordered items are handled on their way to a customer.

Apparently I need to ephasise that this thread is _NoT_ about "vendors" but rather
I see a whole process of :
Hazzle Free Reliable receiving Exactly What's Ordered and Payed for On Time, No anxiety, No Re-negotiation, Nothing broken, No steam.

Count emup:

I just did: 1602 pages x 30 = 48.060 Member ID:s
approximating ID:s with non all non zero scores: 8*48.060/30 = 1602 * 8 = 12.816
from counting average result of 3 pages: 12.816 active members.
Lets say that 4/15 of these are ( Am I optimistic? ) Very Active: 3417 Members.
I think the DIY solar forum member base needs to rise to about 10 times more before we are able to reach out and be able to affect any kind of global handling and shipping procedure....

That is not what this forum does.

It is a teaching and helping forum.

Will has strict limitations on what is allowed by membership.
And supporting vendors is not something he condones.

I have to ask, what specifically can be lobbied for?
F Ex. Specific shipping handlers, Specific vessels, Delivery Service usage. We could start making white point lists and / or dark points list tables.
The point is that we want to keep the relation to the sellers at a "Non heated" level, and try to keep track on the whole chain of events that makes our aspired solar energy projects come true.
Even if there are now sellers that insure their deliveries, It still consumes a lot of personal time, frustration and effort when things go wrong,
and "things going wrong" seems to be very common.

Please note: This thread is not about supporting specific vendors, quite the opposite
It is about receiving the stuff we order preferably on time with a good parcel tracking procedure, without having it all banged up
from underpayed forklifters and postal or delivery staff, and having to rely less on specific vendors.

One of the mods said a while back that this site has around 9 million unique page views per month.

Good grief you can not get that in the REAL world. What makes you think it could work here?
The REAL world is full of organizations and persons that influence others into making radical changes in their lives. Some for good, others for worse. DIY solar Forum is a result of such a person. Elon Musk is another. Jack Ma Yun a third.
What is it that you think we cannot have IRL and why is it impossible it could work with us here?

IMO by sharing expleriences both in knowledge of products/systems and purchasing such items has been very beneficial to me.

Again IMO the strong word of mouth brings the cream to the top. Hopefully those vendors who have seen increase in sales in a round about way from this site or other media avenues do what they are supposed to do. Sell products that meet or exceed the customer’s expectations.

So you want to lobby who? To make changes in a private shipping company? That does not make a lot of sense. If you have a problem with FedEx, for example, do not use them. Vote with your dollar.

What we should focus on instead is manufacturing in more places than just China, so international shipping issues are no longer an issue. The Chinese are dominating the international marketplace when it comes to solar equipment and lithium-ion cells. You can lobby and get angry, and it will do nothing in this landscape. How about you secure raw material supply chains and build a factory?

I am the owner of the site, and it is free of corporate interest. Myself and a few other mods help people with DIY solar, not government mandates for renewable energy. This site is not about politics. But more about self-sufficiency and engineering.

Here are the stats:

Its not just the mods who help people.
I figured that was implied, but they are asking about who runs the forum, and statistics on the backend. I agree, everyone here helps everyone.

Was there anything else in my post that you disagreed with?
