RE+ solar conference is fast approaching! What new products or booths are you interested in?

I believe that's to stay compliant with the FTC Act (disclosing any financial compensation given for a review, including receiving free items etc).
They have to disclose it below the video I believe, but many are going out of their way to say they aren't sponsored by products. Or why they don't take advantage of various revenue sources. It's gotten to the point were some people really believe in a product, but know that viewers think they are only saying so because they are getting paid for it.

I know it upsets Will when people call him a shill, but here is a spy camera shot of him crying himself to sleep at night. :ROFLMAO:

Just got done at the conference. It closes officially in thirty more minutes. I got some really cool pictures and it was less overwhelming than the last couple days.

I also went back to sol ark and talked to the CEO for a long time and I mentioned all my concerns and we got along. I always try to get along with everyone, no reason not to. I love hearing everyone's biased perspective. And what they hate about their competitiors. Helps me do my job.

So tired though. Glad the conference is over.

I was also telling sol ark that my video destroyed the competition. My sol ark 15K video has over 200K views and everyone else is below 10K views. I actually got more views for that unit than the luxpower or any other hybrid out there. And it made a lot of money for me. Given those numbers, I would except different assumptions ?

Whether I get the product for free or not, I still disclose it as a sponsored product to be on the safe side. I also list it in the description as well. We legally have to.

I’m curious as to what else/why people want will to review more stuff from solark than the 15ish kw inverter
I’m in a couple of solark groups online and even they, when someone makes a thread with “I just need a basic system, the 8kw unit should fit my needs” and everyone replies “just get the 15k”
Seems half the 12k owners here want to upgrade to the 15k for whatever reason
So if their own user base completely ignores the notion that solark even sells anything outside of the 15k why should will waste time on the content?
Actually this is a good point. I only want to cover 15K for this reason. I'm not a fan of the 12K

Why does everyone think it's eg4 booth? This was luxpower ?

I also did nearly the same overview video for sol ark and no one thinks I work for sol ark. When I made my sol ark 15K video, no one at eg4 got mad at me or accused me of working with sol ark. I just don't understand the logic here.

I make money working with all companies for affiliate commission. I don't even care who sells the product. I've said this so many times now and I have to repeat myself over and over again.
I'd venture to guess it's a volume thing.

A quick search of your YouTube channel shows a single Sol-Ark video and near countless EG4/Signature Solar videos.

While I'm not saying I agree with people giving anyone a hard time for how they run their business, I do think it makes sense to put yourself in other peoples shoes and attempt to see their perspective. Trust me, I struggle with this too, I'm not one to put up with bullshit, but as I get deeper into my 30's I try to be less of an ass that I once was.

Based on the sheer number of videos, I can see why a company would come to that conclusion. Can't blame them for the most obvious answer, which also doesn't make it true.

Pretty strange to read defensiveness from a 3rd party... I'm not sure why it makes sense to go to bat for an exec who was cold to someone at a trade show (which is not justifiable or productive, even if they perceive bias).

Why not review any/all of their products? On Sol-Ark's website, they currently show a 5k, an 8k, a 12k and a 15k inverter for the US market. My understanding is that they all have very similar interfaces/features (which is not a bad thing at all.) I believe the 15k inverter, which has a review, is the only one that came out recently. They also have DC optimizers, which seem to be outside of the scope of the channel. Its not like they've got a whole line of products that have been ignored. They've got batteries coming out. I imagine they'll get a review if it is feasible.

EG4 has released more products in the time that the channel has been active. There is simply more to review from them. There's nothing wrong with Sol-Ark staying focused primarily on inverters, but on a channel that seems to focus on batteries and inverters, one new product every couple years isn't going to get you a ton of screen time. That's just how it is. Doing a bunch of videos on the same sol-ark products in order to appease the executives of that company would indicate more bias than reviewing new products from another company as they come out.

One of the benefit of releasing more products is that your name will tend to show up in the reviewer space organically more often.
My review of the sol ark got more views than any eg4 equipment I've reviewed in over a year, and made me a ton of money. And I'm not really interested in the smaller units at all. I like 15K size and features.

If you look at the other YouTubers, They usually pull 2,000-10,000. I did over 235,000. And I make more commission for those sales. So he confuses me why people don't think I'm a chill for sol ark. The business structure of EG4 and sol ark, for me, is the same. I make my money through affiliate commission.

I also like to do one video per product. I'm tired of YouTubers bombarding us with a video every single day on every product. It's overwhelming and redundant usually

View count wise, the sol ark did better. But the luxpower sells more. But did not get as many views.

I still haven't gotten a sol ark and I really don't want to spend all that cash for a 15K. They are pretty expensive. I'm surprised they don't send one out.

Goes to show how interested they are in the DIY market.

Do you charge fees besides free products to do reviews? Do you charge the same amount for each product review? Transparency would help minimize the appearance of bias.

Yeah I covered this in a video quite a few years ago. I make money with affiliate commission. No brand deals. No sponsorship contract. And the transparency is always been there. And it's also disclosed in every video description. I make money from affiliate programs.

Ever since I got shocked by the hysolis, I've been charging for low performing products. Because I'm tired of getting shocked, cut and burned and not getting any money for it. My typical rate is 12 to 20K per video. But I'll never charge EG4 or current connected or sol ark. I only do this charge on things that are not certified or UL listed. Or golf kart batteries.

If the product has high conversion rate, then I'm going to make as many free videos as I can on it. If it has high conversion but I think it's a bad product, then I use it as an opportunity to sell victron or other high quality stuff.

I've been averaging 133,000 dollars a month for 36 months. And it's spread across 30 companies. I even make a ton of money from videos I did four or five years ago. People don't even realize it. It's actually pretty funny ? I also have a lot of books and sometimes I make 20K a month from that. I also do short-term loans and I also have a bunch of real estate.

Will you marry me?

If you feel the need to give away the Trophies I'll take one for the team....

I hope it doesn’t sound like I was knocking you, I can just see how it might appear to the solark folks. Glad your review did well, and sounds like you had a better follow up conversation

I’d be leery at publishing that number. Lots of jealous fucks out there. I do about the same gross numbers (but have to pay writers and editors so net half). They don’t consider the years of little sleep and plowing a day job income and reinvestment into a business to get that kind of return (while they were fucking about on an Xbox and PlayStation),

Old guy here, glad you found a niche in the market and made it work.
Well done you!
