I've seen much debate on Loctite vs. helicoil, etc. to strengthen studs. I'd say helicoils are the way to go if you want the strongest option, but I decided to go with red loctite since my threads seemed pretty good.
I did my first 4 cells and ended up making a bit of a mess of the terminals...
I just completed the install of my solaria 400w panel. Pretty tight fit behind the AC unit without overhanging the back, so there will be some shading from the AC at times. The AC is as far forward as possible with the hole right up against a ceiling rib. I fabricated the mounting brackets...
I'm building a battery bank for a new sprinter van I've got coming next month. Original plan was battleborns or SOK's, but I decided to go the DIY route after spending some time on this site. Thanks for the all the great info!
The plan is 400watts solar w victron mppt, Victron 12/3000...
I'm in the process of designing a solar system for a van and it will include lifepo batteries and 3 charge sources (solar, alternator, inverter/charger).
I'm going with victron equipment and trying to educate myself on how to configure the various charging sources to best charge the batteries...
I've got no experience with solar, but I'm designing a system for a van and looking at the following panel:
https://www.solaria.com/powerxt-400-solar-panels
data sheet...
Looking for feedback on my battery wiring design. I'll have 4 12v 280Ah batteries in DIY enclosures. Overkill BMS's for each battery and I estimate total system load to be max of 250amps continuous worst case (typically much lower). This is going in a van. I was planning on just having...
I'm considering a home solar setup. I've got 400a service feeding into 2x200a panels. I think I can get all my "normal" loads into one of the 200a panels and was hoping to feed that panel through a solarc 15k. The only things remaining on the other 200a panel would be 3x25a circuits that are...
I see people posting system layouts and was wondering what tools they use to generate them. I've used Visio for this type of stuff before, but wondering if there is something out there that has a library of switches, components, etc. I'm going with mostly victron stuff and would be nice to be...
I've got 16 lishen 272 cells on order and I'm trying to better understand the matching process and options. I'll be building 4 12v battery packs using 120a overkill BMS's.
My understanding is that I'll want to match cells by capacity as much as possible.
Here is my current plan to...
I've seen several reports of people overcharging cells using power supplies. I have some cells on order and recently bought the following power supply that I plan to use for top balancing and whatever other charging duties I might need it for...
I'm not saying it's a game changer, that's just the name they gave it. 270ah single battery. I assume the launch price of $2,900 will come down, that's a pretty steep premium to have all your capacity in one battery. Pretty nice specs though, 300a continuous discharge...
I have been blown away by the bluetooth performance on these overkill BMS's up to this point. I've been running "bench" tests on my batteries (each with it's own BMS) for the past several months and have never had an issue). I can be 50 feet away and connecting from other rooms in my house and...
I am trying to run my first individual cell capacity test. I've got one of the cheap fan-based capacity testers.
On an individual 3.2v cell, I can't push more than ~6.8 amps (~22 watts). I'm running 10awg silicon wire with ring terminals and have basically zero voltage drop in the leads...
I've got 4 of the jbd 12v BMS's (bought from overkill solar). They have been up and running in my camper van since last May with 4 272AH lishen batteries in parallel. The batteries have been performing well so far.
Last week, we had a cold spell here in TX where it was under freezing for...
I've got 16 lishen cells hopefully arriving next week (they arrived in the states last Friday). I'm working to get everything ready for charging and testing.
I think I'm all set on charging.
I was planning to to use my inverter with a load to run the capacity test and capture statistics...
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm trying to size a system and want to understand how power is supplied by the solark 15k. If I have 200a of grid power available and I've wired the solarc between my main meter feed and my 200a service panel, it it safe to assume the solark is able to use...
new forum member, first post. Great site, lots of good info here.
I'm working on the system design for a van conversion and debating battery choice. My current plan is:
multiplus 12/3000 inverter charger
400-600 watts solar (still figuring out what I can fit on roof along with AC and fan)...
I did all my final top balancing and pack testing back in April and then broke down the batteries while I was finalizing my battery boxes and working on other things.
I reassembled them this week and charged each pack back up in series (but did not top balance). One of my batteries had a...
I am planning a system for a conversion van and I'm considering using SOK batteries. A far as I can tell, the steel case is unsealed. They have an IP50 rating, which means they aren't water or vapor resistant. I like the price/specs of the battey and the metal case seems sturdy, but I'm...
I built 4 12v batteries from 16 lishen 272 cells with 4 overkill solar BMS's.
I finally got them installed in my van and have been using/testing them for the last week or so.
Everything seems to be working well. I've run them up and down several times between 14.1v and down to 12.5v. I've...
I've got 16 272 lishens on order and figured I'd start fabricating the boxes. They are going in a van, so I'm very concerned about properly securing everything.
I started with a wooden mock up of a 4 cell pack and used 3/4 angle and HDPE plastic sheet for the structure. I welded on nuts...
