That is different than the Victron user manual. That's why I didn't understand what you were saying. I attached the ABMS Victron manual. Look at page 6 of it.
But the fuse is not isolated from the battery that way, right? You are disconnecting it from the rest of the system, but not the battery... Bear with me, I'm a mechanic LOL!
Ok, I see it now. They messed me up with that drawing because I was thinking I have all Victron components, I don't need that second contactor. I didn't put it together until looking at the equivalent drawing from the manual you posted. So, now I am thinking I may not want to use the canbus...
Oh yeah.... fuse is only on the positive, so no current flow with the disconnect open... duh... knuckle dragger thinking pipes instead of wires... Thanks!
Things are coming along... I ordered my cables, and overlooked one. My ground to chassis. My cables from the battery bank to the inverter are all 4/0, so does that mean I need a 4/0 to chassis ground? Seems I remember seeing that it had to match the largest cable size...
Started my top balancing, 3 cells at a time since my bank is a 3P4S in 2 sections. These are 310Ah cells from Exliporc Energy on Alibaba. Couple lessons I learned...
1/4" bus bar is too thick for the little studs - had to counter bore the bottom a bit to set them down some.
Make sure you...
the total consumption has a breakdown showing it all coming from the battery, so I assumed it was DC input. The dashboard has AC loads from the Multiplus, total discharge from the battery (from the shunt), and a calculated DC loads reading.
I'm having the same problem with error code 10. Was working fine until I shut it down to add an MPPT. Now it won't start back up. I've checked all of the external fuses, and opened the REC to check the internal fuses. I checked all 6 from the bottom on the pins, with them installed, and all...
Putting together a 3P4S bank with twelve 310Ah cells and a REC active BMS. I could use some help with Busbars. Will it be ok to buy 1/4" x 1" copper and make my own? Will the longer, 6 terminal lengths be a problem? Thanks in advance!
So, that's part of what is making this hard for me. The answer to most of those questions is yes... because I don't stay in any one place, or even type of place, I am trying to find out what is most universal setup. I do have a generator for backup if conditions aren't optimal for a period of...
Sorry, I've been on the road lately. Like said above, follow the manual and let us know how it goes. I believe they improved the manual after I downloaded mine (I had mine pretty early on).
Starting to research what panels will give me the most watts for the space on my 5th wheel. The best combo so far is on Amazon, Newpowa - 7 210W and 2 160W for a total of 1790W. And they are actually the best price too... Are they good quality...
No, power from the 7 pin is useless... it is disconnected. I have a 30A DC-DC charger with 6 AWG wire from the truck. It only allows power to go one direction and charge my bank when driving.
I did my batteries and inverter/charger first, then solar second. You can use the one panel and SCC that you have until you see how much you use out of your bank, then I would decide whether to add to that panel, or pull it and go with new panels. I found that using my generator, and shore...
I've been looking too, and there doesn't seem to be an adjustable over 10A. I'm afraid of over charging them with one I can't set, or wasting money on one that leaves a long way to go still with the 10A. I may just buy 2 10A and do 2 cells at a time. I don't have a capacity tester, and my...
Here are some more pics. There is no way to put a bracket in the middle, it only has a half inch of clearance because of the roof shape. After the Dicor puddles cure, I will be covering them with a strip of Eternabond tape. With all of that, they should be plenty solid...
I have 12 of these in my cart right now and concerned about the quality. Anyone know if the Oye Store is a good supplier before I drop $1575 of my hard earned money? Thanks!
My plan is just to run larger wire from the TV battery to a Victron DC-DC charger in my trailer. It will have a separate fuse at the TV battery. Seems like a simpler way to go with more charging ability...
I set the Orion lower because it is not on the Canbus and the REC can't control it for balancing. So, if I am driving it will cut off before the balancing and top off with balancing when I use shore power or generator (later solar)
I raised my cutoff to 12.00V on the inverter now.
I have a REC active BMS on my 3P4S bank that I got from @the_colorist, and it works great with my Victron system. Let me know if I can answer any questions on how it works.
