Looking at the chart, I am within 2-3V of Voc for normal operating conditions and within 4-5V of Voc for standard test conditions. My temperature was definitely closer to their normal condition than their standard conditions. Would you call that close enough to rule out panel or wiring issues?
I am looking at doing something like you are talking about and would like your input, if you don't mind. I have twelve 3.2V, 310aH cells on order and have been trying to figure out configuration and a BMS for a 12.8V system. I am thinking about a 3P4S configured like the below with a Batrium...
Speaking of relay based, I saw REC BMS mentioned in another post, so I looked them up. It seems like it would not matter what amperage you are working with. Here is that diagram. It has cell balancing and temperature sensors. Do you know anything about it?
For some reason, it is saying my account is unavailable right after I created it on Alibaba and won't let me start an order. Did you open an account as an individual or a business?
How is the 12V in an RV any different? Every system schematic I have seen has a ground from the negative bus to the chassis, and it is sized equal to the largest cable (or at lmost one size down). That is in addition to the smaller chassis grounds from the cases of components.
Thank you! I want to design for the inverter, and I still need to verify what the max amperage is. Specs show peak as 5500W, but I want to be sure. It is this one. https://www.continuousresources.com/products/victron-energy-multiplus-ii-12-3000-120-50-2x120v-inverter-charger?variant=39385020530845
1. I have mine with the Cerbo as the hub. My REC goes to a VE.Can port, and the Multi-II goes to the VE.Bus port - they are separate cables going in. My MPPTs are on VE direct ports with separate cables as well. Since your MPPT has VE.Can, you can also go to a VE.Can port with that. I am...
I don't think I can use the charger from my 5th wheel then, because my BMS is a contactor type and has to be assembled along with my entire system (see my system diagram below). I wanted to get the bank top balanced before installing everything in the 5th wheel. I guess I will just have to...
Reading this makes me love my REC BMS with a precharger all the more... everything stays "on" and I flip the BMS power switch... it precharges and everything boots up... so simple
The contactors are for the REC active BMS on my battery bank, nothing to do with the Victron components. I will use my laptop to Bluetooth to the Victron components, so I will have remote monitoring and control.
I didn't think about idle consumption for the factory inverter. Thanks!
I realize this won't run everything all of the time, and I will have the generator for augmenting. We don't usually use our second A/C, but if I find we use it more, I will install a second soft start.
The nice thing about...
Started going back over everything this morning and now I have more questions. The part I didn't understand when I ordered the Victron compatible ABMS was the fact that I had to have the CCGX or Venus GX to use the compatibility feature. I really don't need the $300 Venus GX for anything else...
Yes, everything is installed in the previously unused portion of the basement and is heated/cooled. I actually gained storage by removing the original FLA batteries from the front storage compartment.
This has been going really slow... almost done with the 3rd set of 3.
After they rested 24 hours, all of them are coming in at 3.541 - 3.549, except for one that is 3.515... does that seem like a problem? I don't have any spares, so not much choice but to use it. I am going to be using a...
I have lots of mechanical and carpentry tools, but really nothing as far as electrical (other than some cheap automotive stuff). So, I am trying to figure out what I need for my DIY project. I am not trying to build a complete workshop here, just build out the system in my 5th wheel and...
Getting started on solar for my 5th wheel to enable boondocking at times. I am doing this in two phases, with the battery bank, inverter/charger/DC-DC charger first, and then after that is all working good (and I save a bit more money), the panels and solar charger second. Wanted to run my...
I'm pretty good about buying quality tools for jobs that require precision, or that I will do frequently. The only thing I'm on the fence about is the large cables - those tools would only be used for this install, so I may end up with premade cables.
Starting to look at panel configuration for my 5th wheel build and looking for input...
I will have a total of nine 210W panels. Here are the specs:
Max Power Output(W): 210W
Voltage MPP Vmp(V): 16.77V
Current MPP Imp(A): 12.48A
Voltage Open Circuit Voc(V): 19.83V
Short Circuit Current...
How do I choose a BMS for my 310aH DIY packs (3 x12V for 930aH)? For a 50A 5th wheel project, so I need under temperature cutoff as well. How do I pick the size?
Here are the other components I plan to use, except I haven't picked a charge controller yet. Thanks for any help!
