So I bought 4 of these 24V 92.8 aH batteries. If I put two in series, that will give me two 48v 92.8 aH packs. Parallel those packs and I now have 48V 185.6 aH battery bank.

OK, trying to figure out the breaker size for each string, is this math correct? The ISC of 1 panel is 8.85 amps. 3 of these in parallel gives me an ISC on that string of 26.55. Based on a calculation I found from solar queen, the ISC of that string (26.55) x 1.56 = 41.418. Rounding up gives me...

I apologize, this is all really difficult for me to grasp for some reason. Let me recap for Step 1. Instead of buying 10/3 wire, I could just buy a nema 14-50 extension cord. I cut off the male and female ends of the cord, and then use that wire for the AC input and output on the LV5048. For...

Thank you both for your replies. I looked on the BB website but I cannot seem to find the information you posted @schmism. I'll look around some more. @jasonhc73 I have been running the generator 2-3 hours per day every day for almost 5 months now just to keep the RV house batteries charged! It...

Thanks for the response! I am working on a shopping cart in at Missouri Wind and Solar. Since I only have 20 panels, I think I can only do 9 into one input and 9 into the other, leaving me with two extra. In hindsight I should have asked all these questioned before I ordered the panels (almost 5...

I am using a 50 amp rv cable from the generator to my 50 amp input, all other wiring is 6awg. Battery cable is all 1/0awg. Maybe the only other concern is the AH of my batteries? They are 4 24v 92.8ah batteries wired in 2s2p. I think that means it is safe to charge at half of 92.8ah?
  • Post in thread: Help Troubleshooting no PV Connection - LV5048

That was the problem. Replaced the combiner box to inverter wires with 6awg and tested one panel, works. Thanks for your help!
  • Post in thread: Understanding MPP Solar charge settings for LifePO4 batteries

No I did not. They all showed 26.6 v, and back then I thought that meant they were all at the same level. After some research tonight I now realize that is not a valid assumption with lifep04. So to top balance these, my thought was to let the solar charge them up tomorrow until it switches off...

I am still working on this, I have had other projects I have been tying to get done before the snow comes and does not leave. I have a 50AMP inlet that will take the power from my generator and bring it to the inverter. Between that 50AMP inlet and my inverter will sit a cutoff switch with a...

Thank you for the videos, I had seen them before. Let me try and break down each part of the build and see if I can get some guidance that way. Step 1: Gas generator to LV5048 AC Input The manual states that a 40amp breaker should be used between the AC supply and AC Input on the inverter. The...

Hi Denise, This is the box I used for my AC Input: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002YSNGM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Inside this box I installed a ground bar and a 40 amp breaker.

No, everything has been working great for over 18 months now in the current config.
  • Post in thread: Advice Needed to Help a Neighbor

She is not charging her own because she has not had power since 2013! I guess she has been taking batteries around to neighbors for all of that time, or directly connecting a solar panel to the batteries. It may have not been a big deal to her in the past but I think her age is catching up with...
  • Post in thread: BigBatteries with Bus Bar

Thank you, I am going to rewire the Anderson connectors to bus bars next week when the parts arrive. Hopefully this solves my issue!
  • Post in thread: BigBatteries with Bus Bar

I have 4 of the following batteries: https://bigbattery.com/products/24v-a123-lfp-battery-box-w-bms-rv-battery/ Each has its own BMS. As the OP mentioned, these come with Anderson connectors, and the cables the manufacturer sold me for getting two into parallel included shoving 2 6 guage wires...

Take a picture of the voltage readings of each battery? They have since fallen back to 26.6v.
  • Post in thread: Extension Cord horror

I also purchased the LV5048 after watching Will's video about 48v all in one systems. I also purchased 4 24V A123 LFP Battery Box w/ BMS batteries, wiring them up so I could have 2 48v batteries. My plan is to send the ac out to a box and then have an outlet that I can plug our camper into...
  • Post in thread: Wiring from LV5048 to breaker box for 50amp service outlet

Ok, then the issue lies somewhere else. I switched the batteries around in series and the same thing happened. The two "bottom" batteries in each series pack shut off and now only read 3.3 volts with the multimeter. I'm tired and frustrated, I'll come back to this tomorrow. Thanks for your...
  • Post in thread: Wiring from LV5048 to breaker box for 50amp service outlet

OK, I am working on getting this installed today, but I am having difficulty designing the grounding system. I understand from another thread I need to jump the neutral IN and neutral OUT on the LV5048. My question is, how to I go about grounding the rest of the system? I do have a ground rod...
  • Post in thread: Solar Pump Question

With my one panel it is pumping 5 gallons per minute over 400 feet at a 16 foot positive elevation change. That's enough for what I need it for, not going to bother adding another panel.
  • Post in thread: MPP Solar LV5048 Bonding & Grounding question.

My generator is bonding internally. I now have the AC Out panel bonded with the green screw, and then a ground wire out to a ground rod. The only thing I am still uncertain of is if my AC input box needs to be bonded with the green screw as well. The generator has a separate ground rod that it...

I did have a question in regards to cycling the batteries. Right now the pack is sitting at 53v. Should I be waiting until they have discharged lower before I run the generator to charge them back up?
  • Post in thread: Extension Cord horror

Thanks for the info guys. I am even more confused now, but I will keep reading through the posts until it becomes clear. Did I make a mistake buying the lv5048 and the 24V A123 LFP Battery Box w/ BMS batteries to pair with it? All I really need to make sure of is the battery bank can power the...
  • Post in thread: Help Troubleshooting no PV Connection - LV5048

Hey all. I was tilting my panels today (I made mounts last year that allow me to rotate to proper angle) and forgot to disconnect my main PV breaker before I started. When I came in the PV 1 input was no longer working on the LV5048. I noticed the breaker was on and switched it off and back on...
  • Post in thread: Guidance for HYBRID LV5048 Split Phase 120V/240V output 5kW 48V system

I am wondering if it might be better for now to buy an all in one 24V inverter that will get me through the winter. that would give me close to 400aH in storage and I could buy fewer panels.
  • Post in thread: Wiring from LV5048 to breaker box for 50amp service outlet

Is there a specific reason why I cannot set setting 11 to 40amps? I am using the 50 amp plug on my generator, and I have a 40 amp breaker between the generator and the inverter. Right now the setting is at 20 amps and it takes almost 4 hours to get up to 80% battery charge.
  • Post in thread: Wiring from LV5048 to breaker box for 50amp service outlet

Drawing things out on paper definitely helped! I have the AC Input and Output as well as the inlet and outlet needed for accepting power from the generator and delivering power to the RV. The Inlet and Outlet will be mounted on the outside of the 6x12, and I will run the lines through the wall...
  • Post in thread: Wiring from LV5048 to breaker box for 50amp service outlet

Ok all, I am nearing completion! I am working out the numbers I need for the charge controller on the LV5048. As I have mentioned before, I have 4 24v lifepo4 batteries with a 92.8ah capacity each. Wiring two batteries in series gives me a 48v 92.8ah pack. Two of these series packs in parallel...

So I figured out I am going to have to rebuild the battery cables I bought using 1/0awg. The batteries have Anderson connectors built into the battery box. I have read that Anderson connectors are not really the best option, but I think I need to go with what I have right now. As far as the 250...
