Unfortunately the flickering is constant. I could deal with flickering when loads change. Not a bad idea, I can do that
  • Post in thread: Solar Assiatant not connecting to Internet

hmm, I guess I will wait for them to reply. Mine is 100% not an SDcard issue.

1.45 megaohms between neutral and ground on the output. I would say it's unbonded
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

Main input is hot, neutral ground from main panel. Output is hot, neutral ground to the transfer panel. Inside the transfer panel they pass through the neutral and ground right back to the main panel. The bonding in my system is back at the main disconnect which is on the outside of the house...

Well, as I told them you can not fit anything into the lugs when you use 4ga per the manual. Had to use 90deg ring terminals and attach it to the upper outlet screws. This means it hangs, not ideal. Idle power consumption increased and varies between 0 and 5W, tolerable. Quickly checked the...

If the unit needs to be pulled for this issue I will be glad I went with a transfer as I can easily go back to line power while I await a replacement. But, I do know what you mean.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

no no, may your lights be bright and flicker free!
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

So I went on a LED spree last night. Picked up 1 pack of just about every LED can and edison base bulb at HD and Lowes. They are going to hate me when I attempt to return most of them. I tried 3 6" led can lights, all flickered.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

I am more upset about the lack of real information from the manufacturer. All I get is "it shouldn't do that". Well, I have sent videos, pictures, measurements, circuit diagrams and received 0 back. At least they sent me another unit but same result. I built the system around this unit and...

Oh man, sounds like your in for the exact same experience as myself! sales01@sungoldpower.com is the support email. I would get in contact with Alisa. Don't forget that you only have 30 days to get your money back they start them from the order date not delivery date. Those videos were recorded...

the price was impossible to ignore, add in the lack of LV units in stock for months and the decision was basically made for me. the inspector became involved due to the E1 that pulled the permit talking to him about the odd output. Once he heard flickering lights he was like a homing missile...
  • Post in thread: Sun Gold Power 6500 is a clone? Or MPP Solar just pissy at the competition?

A year ago it seemed like I was the only one complaining about these issues. I was literally the only one posting about them. Glad to finally see in writing that there are known issues and I am not a nut lol.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

Not an option without rewiring the entire house. Most rooms are on a separate breaker so receptacles and lighting share a circuit. It is a Colonial with a finished basement so this would be a massive undertaking.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

This happens all the time, not just with solar input. Thinking of going Victron if this really drives us nuts.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

On a positive note they did reach out this morning asking me to describe the issues again. After 30 plus emails you would think they got it by now. I am assuming the US engineering team received the unit and are looking into the issue.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

So you think I should try lifting the ground on the output? There is a bond only at the main disconnect. The main panel has 4 service leads that separate the neutral from ground. In my day to day I work with a team that designs automotive and aerospace components. I have not messed with...
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

Might have solved the issue! Right now I am only taking in 70W from the panels. Reevaluate tomorrow then I will post what I did. If this fix holds with more PV input it's incredibly simple and cheap to implement.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

Has to be something going on in the inverter if it only happens when it's running. Very odd
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

Not spending 12k on an inverter, the payoff time makes it not worth it.

  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

I want to be clear, my intent is not to drag SunGold through the mud. Things happen. But, it's how they are dealing with it that upsets me. Pushing me off day after day repeating the same "our engineer has to build a mock up and test the unit to verify, we will contact you in a few days" is...
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

Got bored and went back to messing with things. Checked all the AC and DC wiring and connections again, nothing there. Did find that the hertz output of the dimmer at minimum on the inverter is half of what the grid measured but, the voltage was the same. Not sure how they work but that is at...
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

Well that is disappointing. The NF-A8 is their highest speed/static fan. I will look at the amperage when the new one comes in and see if I can find a closer match. Did you try dimming the bulbs?
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

Yes, the flicker is much less at full power but we never run our lights at full power so dimmers are necessary. Once dimmed at all the flicker is better described as strobing. This is only an issue with this inverter. Ecoflow Delta Pro, Ego Nexus or grid 0 flickering.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

I think we all knew there was something going on with these clones but were hoping for an easy fix. Almost a year since I installed mine, no fixes. Think it's safe to say we will never have a fix. More likely that the manufacturers will sell though the defective units and implement changes...

Well in my case I have flickering in $280 Philip architectural fixtures and hue bulbs. The architectural fixtures have multiple caps on the drivers, If I remember right 8. They should 100% not flicker lol

Tried the 10A on the kitchen lighting circuit no change. Put the 20A on the UPS circuit, also no change. Disconnected the inverter output and put the 20A filter inline with some 12/2 to a dual gang box. Plugged in each of the UPS units, still tripped. Removed that and tossed on 4 edison bases...
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

Can always ask for the new unit. I might do that. FYI when you send it back you have to bring it to an actual FedEx hub. I had to drive across my state to return the first unit. Tried 3 locations and all denied the package due to some ridiculous stipulation on the return label.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

because it's over 40 fixtures and they do not flicker when directly attached to another inverter or when the system is on grid or generator. the bulbs and dimmers are all expensive Philips LED's in the dimmables and cree's in other locations. Dimmers are Lutron or Levitron LED dimmers. Changing...
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

It is certainly worth a shot. Getting 4ga wire on that would be interesting lol. The issue is this is not periodic noise or induced by other items on the circuit, it is constant. We should not have to noise filter 6.5kw of output to use an inverter with lights or a UPS. I have used those filters...
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

Yep, the more I poked around the more I found that links them to MPP and Signature Solar as the OEM manufacturer. Also explains why they offered them as replacement options.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

The video isn't really capturing it properly. The wave is much improved on PV only but there is a significant amount of distortion and the alternation is not even. It's good enough that I feel ok running it to some devices that have line filtering on them. But, that's only when the PV is able to...
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

I also ordered some fans just for the heck of it. That would be step 2. I have used these in server builds and never had a problem. They are 4800 RPM 80mm units. OEM units are 5000rpm so it shouldn't trigger the tach signal fan alarm. This would require taking the unit down and changing the fan...
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

I have yet to find a difference between the lv6548 and sp6548. Same everything down to the caps. Obviously the shell is rebranded. Do you know what's different? This issue is also popping up on newer lv6548s so I think it's just a manufacturing issue due to supply changes. Or are you saying the...
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

By By any chance do you have links? I have been looking all day and all I can find are inline. I have installed large transformers in homes for dirty power but those were VERY expensive and I don't want to go down that road.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

What is the power source for the scope? Needs to be a separate pure sine clean source. So grid with an isolation transformer or it can be the solark if its not sharing any connections. Probe the hot and neutral and try again. Something is not right there. As much as I would love more information...
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

They have plenty of diagnostic information from me. If they will do anything is another story. Opening a case with VISA.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

So much for next day. Amazon kicked the scope delivery to tomorrow. One more day for answers.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

The price is nice but I really dislike the studs. You would need 90 deg ring terminals to mount it cleanly and the studs are exposed. Not a fan of line voltage being exposed like that. I am a bit OCD so to each their own.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

We shall see. At this point I'm open to getting another permit and replacing it with something else if they are willing to send it.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

I was sent his contact information. Plan to give him a call on monday. Since it is a cell number and I am not sure if it is a personal or business owned line I don't want to post it. If it was sent to me I would expect anyone else with a faulty unit to be able to request it.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

So my question is how am I the only one seeing this with all the LV6548's out there? Is there an actual difference between the MPP unit and the Sungold Power? Is my unit defective? Is this normal for these units? I find it hard to believe it's normal as it trips my UPS's randomly for dirty power.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

@Quattrohead have you checked the power usage on the grid supply? Just hooked up monitoring on the entire service and see 90-100watts being pulled from the grid by the inverter at all times when grid power is supplied to the unit. This can not be normal.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

So that is with PV only out to the lighting circuit. DC and AC have been completely removed. The wave is much improved over all other testing scenarios but the lights still flicker in correspondence to the abnormalities. The constant on LED's did flicker less, enough where I would just ignore...
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

After shaking the sungold power tree again I was told that they verified the issue and will be sending a "filtering capacitor". I asked about specifics but have not received a response. Better not be for just 1 120v line, it would have to cover the entire 6.5Kw output.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

So far none of the fixes proposed have alleviated the issue. Still a work in progress. The wife's hair straightener causes all kinds of havoc on the lighting just like your sous vide cooker.
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

Lowest quantity would be 6. These are all LED can's. We have them in the kitchen, family room, hallways and bedrooms. I will see what happens when I pull the ground from the output as recommended and see what the scope shows. I should have continuity checked the input and output ground but...
  • Post in thread: SunGold Power SP6548 Flickering lights after new install

Agreed! that was my first question to their "engineer"... no response days later. I will absolutely check the draw. At that point the unit has lost any certification it had achieved and my inspector will never sign off on the install. I'll give it a go for completions sake of this thread.
