    Underground wire short....

I have the array itself grounded, and the a cheapo once built into my combiner box, but I don't have a lighting arrester. Not yet anyway as I just ordered a set of them and will ground this property. Is this a case where lightning in the area, even though I did not get a direct hit, could...

    Underground wire short....

I had an issue that I think is caused by very alkaline/salty water getting into my cable run and causing a short. I am using a 150ft run of 6 gauge copper connected to 15 240 watt panels in a 5s3p configuration. I have two sets of panels wired like this, each to its own inverter and all...

    EG4 6500 randomly shuts down

I went with the 6000 specifically as they seemed to have fewer issues and by my research would handle my pumps starting better then the high frequency units even though the 6500s had more power and seemed newer....

    EG4 6500 randomly shuts down

When I download the latest it shows up as 63.13. That's from the downloads page. You must have a 6500EX as that has the 79.66 version. I have a 6000EX. I guess I am stuck with the issue for now util support is happy with my photos and videos.

EG4 6000EX firmware cable fails to connect

It's a pair of EG4 6000ex inverters purchased from signature solar. The docs are pretty sparse on the subject. Ill pose the question to support and see what they say...

EG4 6000EX firmware cable fails to connect

I have a nice heavy ground wire between the GND on the inverters, my breaker panels and a ground rod driven into the earth. Was the easiest part of this whole thing.

EG4 6000EX firmware cable fails to connect

That clears it up for me. As the nearest grid is a good 10 miles away, I don't think I will ever be connected to it. I don't think I will ever want to open up the system and attach a bonding point like I read in other posts. But then, it's not like these really have a warranty and support...

EG4 6000EX firmware cable fails to connect

There are a couple other people on this site with the issue. For me at least, it happens every day after the batteries are fully charged from the nights drawdown, the inverter just shuts off the AC w/o warning or errors for 4 seconds. I assume "Mobile" meant the inverters were installed...

EG4 6000EX firmware cable fails to connect

I see what you are saying now. I just received mine last week and it came with the USB to Serial converter and the DB9 to RJ45. I am still going back and forth with support, but I suspect they are going to want me to flash mine pretty quick. It has the "drop AC for 4 seconds" issue.

EG4 6000EX firmware cable fails to connect

I'm not following you... Are you saying that to flash the firmware you need a different cable than what is provided? I got a USB to serial converter and a serial cable DB9 to RJ45 that plugs into it. Also a black battery to inverter connection cable.

Add Heating Pads to EG4 or Switching to Trophy Batteries?

I bought 4 Trophy Batteries about a year ago and they did fine this winter. I have a temperature gauge out there and at times the shed was in the 20's all day. They do not balance between all four and discharge/charge unevenly despite everything I have tried, but that doesn't seem to effect...

Signature Solar Customer Support and EG4 6000EX inverter issues

I got a little of that up front, part of this is I get what I pay for and I bought what I still consider a mid-range inverter. It's 2K not 8 or 10K so I expect some of this. Same with Trophy Batteries, but when I call or send Dan an email, he gets right back to me even if it's to say they...
