Hello, I heard that having 2 4s packs in parallel, each with a BMS, is not the best configuration. I have read that there can be a feedback or surge situation that can take out one of the BMS's. Anyone have any info on this setup?
740, unfortunately my system is in my RV at a storage facility. I will be making a trip out tomorrow and can get the controller settings. Thx for your response.
Hello, I just hooked up 2 LIFEPO4 100ah packs, connected in parallel, 2 JK BMS's. Both packs were just top balanced and allowed to rest for 2 days, settling within .08v of each other. I decided to do a discharge test down to 50% of capacity. I started with a 10amp draw and noticed right away an...
Hello Substrate, thx for the reply. I did charge to 14.4 when I first got the battery, it's in the history of the BMV-700. My ac charger I have been using for years is a CTEK Lithium, yes only 4.5amps, but I have been using with no problem to maintain my other batteries. Personally, I don't I...
Hello Bently, you are correct, I have 2 BMS's. I am fairly new to solar and should have realized that the power would be split between the 2. Thx for the help and for not beating up on me, God knows I had it coming.
Tictag, thx for the reply. Glad you like the "gentle" comment, I have been beat up pretty good in forums before, the only reason was my lack of knowledge. Anyway, it was quite strange, I could not charge past 13.5v, with either of my charging sources. Currently I am able to, wish I knew why. I...
Ha, ha. You are correct in your response, I hooked the pack in parallel and let them "settle " together for a few days. You can also bring the one down as well. I think this is part of the fun building your own system, and why having people chime in with their thoughts is so rewarding...
Ya, the BMS is stopping the current at 3.5v for that cell while the other 3 are around 3.37 - 3.4. I guess I am wondering why that cell gets to 3.5v so quickly and the others come up more slowly.
Thx SCClockDR, I appreciate how you broke that down. Another question of you if I may. Will talks about bottom balancing LIFEPO4 cells to 3v. When I Google it a lot of folks are going to 2.75v per cell. Is there anything to gain or lose by just going to 3v?
Mike
Nice setup. If you don't mind me asking how much was the SBMS0, don't see a price on the website. Does that unit have an integrated MPPT controller or am I misreading something.
Need some help, seems to be beyond my knowledge here. Have 4 3.2v 100amph cells in series. Cell 1 always reads the highest when in bulk or absorb. Cells 1-3 can be very close to 3.4v but number 4 is over 3.5v, I have even tried a BMS with the same result. I originally bottom balanced each cell...
One other question. I understand I won't have full output because of the 100w panels, is there some math that will tell me the output of all 3 in parallel? I am also guessing that if I went this route I am not damaging my system, just have the lower output penalty. Thx again for the help.
Hello, I have a 100|30 controller and was curious about one one the settings. On the main page there is a "Solar" section with Voltage and current. I have a 200 w panel and I am showing 19-20v. Sometimes I show the full current values of around 10-11amps. Other times , same voltage , less that 1...
Well just returned (RV in storage) and you were correct, was set to "user defined", but the values were the same as the Lithium settings, 14.2 ab and 13.5 float. Are there other settings I am missing?
I just realized that I am not sure how to set up. Is the BMS that I am calibrating going to the positive cable that is going to my discharge device? I suppost there is no way to get current readings for both batteries without resetting the test on the other posts.
Sorry, did not mean to sound flip about it, appreciate any info I can get. only one car adapter hooked into trailer system, unplug from Bluetti and plug into Jackery, nothing but the portable batteries changes. Have tried quickly pulling adapter from Jackery and then into Bluetti, Bluetti fails...
Hi Ampster, finally got around to the batteries again. I was able to equalize the 4 cells in parallel to 13.32v. I then hooked that pack to my bench power supply, set to 3.6v and 3 amps. Not sure if I have done it correctly, after 2 hours the pack is at 13.35v. Is this indicitive of a bad cell...
Hello, hoping I am just missing something here. My setup, 2 x 100ah packs, in parallel. 2 x 200w panels in series. Victron controller showing at least 20amps going into bank (I have the controller set to 20a max atm). JK BMS showing maybe 10amps, avg closer to 8amps . Any ideas on where to...
