So I will be using the electric companies grounding system on my entire system. I was hoping to use my own earth ground, and only use the electric companies load lines and neutral. So the only way to get around this is not to have utility hooked up to the inverters for back up?
I too am new to solar. I have found my batteries may not do what I expected as well. I have two 200AH LiFePo4 in series. I got alot of bugs ironed out on my LV2424 yesterday. I still need to tweek the settings. I'm sorry you're giving up on solar, I have come to realize it's an expensive...
Just checked the 6548 and sure enough, the setting was 2P2, so went in and changed it to SG1 and it started charging the batteries off utility and showed the inverter icon so know it's functioning in that aspect. Turned on the switch from the PV and nothing. That will definitely be this...
Thank you both. Will charge individually and then in series and check the cuttoff setting and change it. This was my first system, and it's for the koipond power. I have 12-200 watt Rich Solar panels and my power consumption runs about 800 watts except at night when the waterfall shuts down...
Also, the ones pulling the strings keep talking about the electric grid going down. The system I have I can easily move my wires to send power to the house and shut off the utility breakers to power necessities like frig., fans, crock pot; would need to shut down some of the pond equipment though.
I had this 6548 hooked up before and it worked (with communication issues), and double checked the wiring before putting the front panel with controller back on. I did precharge, don't have a regular resistor so I use a carpenters pencil as a resistor. Thank you for the link to the calculator...
Sun is out today and checked the leads from PV. Was getting 112v from the PV which are 2 strings of 5 panel series in parallel. I have tried both MPPT connectors on the 6548 and the inverter does not detect the panels. The only thing I can figure is there must be something in the settings...
Thank you!!! I had COMPLETELY forgotten about the setting #28 for two phase. Will get that changed this weekend, as that's the soonest opportunity I'll have to tackle it again. I remember the frustration setting it up as I was slow at making the chages. I had also forgotten about the bonding.
I will be installing my solar array 150' from the inverter and decided to go with 8awg wire, when looking for connectors to fit, it has turned out to be challenging. I purchased this crimper with dies for regular 10 and 12 awg connectors...
I think I understand now. So you are talking about equal length of cable in terms of each inverter, ie, total of inverter #1 is the same as total cable length of inverter #2. Am I correct?
Also, thank you for the link to the book, this gives me some good info to read and understand more...
Here’s a crude sketch of what I’m looking at. I have the 3’ battery cables (2/O) going from the bus bar to inverters and the fuses. I need to purchase cable to go from the bus bar to the fuse box now. I see 9” is a standard length to purchase so this would be adding another 11” to the positive...
Greetings. I had an LV2424 I was using on my koipond with 4 12v Rich Solar batteries configured for 24v and 10 200watt Rich Solar panels hooked up 5panels in string, 2 strings. This setup worked fine for the LV2424, but the 2424 stopped switching over to utility, and it would just drain the...
Thank you for your response. For the AC going out from the two LV6548s will just use a small two leg breaker box then before the lines head to the main panel in the house. My PV lines coming in will be connected to a DC disconnect switch before the inverters so I should be good. No codes here...
I bought an MPP Solar LV2424 and it's had issues from day one. Looking for a more reliable inverter that I want to be off-grid for the most part. Currently I have 10-200watt Rich Solar PV panels, 4- 12v 200AH Rich Solar LiFePO4 batteries and my load is my koipond pulling 565 watts with an...
Thank you for responding. The inverter panel does not show panels are connected, so it shows 0 volts from PV. Good to know I can run all 10 in series and not mess anything up. Have not been happy with this system, ie MPP solar and rich solar products.
I have a question. In response #5 from MichaelK he talks about a breaker box after the inverter and that his line goes straight to his main panel. What are the main reasons for having a breaker box right after the inverter since it’s going to the houses main breaker panel, and will an average...
I have most of my supplies and planning my install of two LV6548 inverters to power my house. But am a bit confused on the grounding line coming from utility. For utility power IN on the two 6548s, do I use the utility ground, or my own earth ground I will be using on the AC power OUT to my...
Around 240 volts I'm figuring. It all depends on what panels I can buy come Monday. Going down to OK City to purchase and bring back. Had figured on the Silfab 380, but later when I called to see what other items they carried, they'd run out of the S 380s so figured I'd wait till closer to...
A friend has a greenhouse and wants to install multiple fans inside to move air, but doesn't want to use an inverter or batteries, just wants to power the fans directly off the solar panels so they run only during the day. My question is how to calculate the size of a panel array based on how...
Have read the battery cable lengths must be the same on POS and NEG otherwise it effects the volts. I am installing two LV6548 inverters for two phase, all battery lengths equal but I forgot to account for a fuse (125 amp) in the POS cable from buss bar to inverter which is approx. 4" long and...
I have an LV6548 and planning an install, but am having a terrible time figuring my PV array to stay below 250VOC and 18A per MPPT. What panels are you running and what is your configuration? I am having trouble keeping the amps below 18 with my configurations and the watts high. I would...
I was pulling right at 550 watts, unplugged from utility and forced the inverter to use the batteries, it ran for 10-11 hours, then the batteries were drained to the point I had to charge each one up so I could power the LV2424 back on. It was part of my learning process. I really expected...
Being 150' distance from array to inverter, pulling the PV wire bundle (two runs, so 4 wires) will be difficult enough without the ends on and I would think impossible with ends. Direct burial would save money as PVC conduit has become unreal as all PVC products have, but hesitant to go that...
I have two LV6548 inverters with 5 SOK rack batteries, used the pylon setting and after several days would get code 62. Would shut the inverters down and this would reset, but problem would reoccur several days later. Batteries SOC varied from one another, OVP tripped on the batteries, one had...
