I have that one, as a dual fuel (gas, propane). Works well. Inverter has to be set to " APL" mode.
Interesting, why APL mode. I'm almost positive I'm in UPS mode with same inverter generator.
It took me about 1/2hr to install and deal with the the anxiety to drill two holes where I did in the frame to mount the regulator....but worked out perfectly. Once you tune it properly for your usage, it's really efficient. I tuned it around the 80% run capacity mark for 4000w of consistent output. I will say that you probably want two tanks on a parallel manifold to keep tanks from freezing up. Worked fine with one until the tank got to about 25% full.

Thanks for posting. With those add-on deals, does the gas keep flowing if the generator stops? That’s always been my concern.
In my testing with the motor snorkel, it stops the flow if generator stops. Since there is no vacuum in the carb, the mounted demand regulator does not allow propane to pass through. This is only my experience and your milage may vary though and would contact the vendor of the add-on product to make sure.
This is the exact reason I decided to get a manual start though, to make sure if it does stop I can verify before trying to start again.
I picked up a smaller refurbished 120v Firman generator when eBay was having a 20% off sale last month - ended up getting an electric start, dual fuel (it'll never see gas) for like $311. It looked new, hooked it up to propane and ran a tank dry in a few test runs. Electric start FTW!

Been eyeing this Firman, its the smallest Dua/Tril fuel 120/240v with electric start. But THD is 11 to 14%.

Glad you pointed that out - the 240v one I was eyeing on eBay has a 25% THD!! That's bad, right??
The inverter one I bought has 3%. Whew.

this exact gen fried 3 of my 6500ex's back to back i think it was because it was the non inverter model so i would suggest an inverter gen just to be safe and easier on things

Initially, I too ran it in UPS mode. My inverter charger would shut down after a while - e.g. one hour or two - of running on generator power. However, it also was shutting down when I connected grid power to it. And my grid power is probably "clean". So, it likely is not a generator issue but an issue with my wiring. Ground problems? I could not figure it out. I have it in APL all the time now and 0 problems.

they make a non inverter version as well. thats why i specified it was the non inverter model. just wanted to me sure people are careful when buying. my dad had bought the non inverter one because it was a little bit cheaper and i borrowed it for when i wasnt making enough solar.@MidwestBest, It is an inverter generator

I do have the non-inverter version from Champion. IIRC, the model name contains a 6500, not 6250.
I am using this non-inverter generator without problems. My solar chargeverter is the 10kW version from Sungoldpower (SRNE).
