Circuit breaker fail.

That one looks identical to the one that failed. It would be interesting to have a look inside to see if there is any difference in construction. A steel pivot for the plastic lever (rather than plastic) would likely prevent a similar failure.
The Chinese can clone the external appearance of something perfectly. Internals and actual functionality can differ wildly.

The one i posted is not a chinese knock off. They can also supply this one. I have no affiliation with any supplier. This breaker is designed to be used as a switch as well as a breaker. https://powerwerx.com/eaton-187f-waterproof-circuit-breaker-surface-mount

What enclosures are those? Ideally I could buy midnite DC disconnect boxes without the breakers for cheap but very rare to find them like that.
They are just some generic metal enclosures that happen to be about the right size for those breakers and associated wiring. Knock some holes in them for wiring, cut out openings for breakers, drill some small holes for the mounting screws. Maybe not as sexy as the MidNite stuff, but they were salvaged from the dumpster, so other than time, free. Free makes me feel better. :)

I had something similar to the OP happen on a 150a cheap O breaker but it would trip at almost half capacity.

I put a $33 bussman breaker in and its been fine for months.
