I am having a communication issue between my Seplos 280L with BMS 3.0 (v0.5 firmware) and my Solis RAI-3K-48ES-5G AC coupled inverter.
I have set the Inverter and the Battery to communicate using PYLON CAN protocol.
Although there is some sign of life the inverter shuts down with a BATNAME-FAIL error.

Has anyone got a similar system to work successfully ? If so with what protocol/firmware.
Thanks in advance

Welcome.

It sounds as though Seplos have not correctly implemented the Pylontech protocol. It is necessary for them to send CANBus Message ID 0x35E containing the following data.

0x35E: Manufacturer name ("PYLON ") = ASCII "PYLON" followed by 3 spaces.

If the Solis does not receive this message it will trigger the BATNAME failure condition.

If you can't get an update from Seplos, the it will be necessary to set the Solis to user-defined. Then it will accept standard SMA protocol, which is virtually the same, but without the battery name requirement.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll give the "user defined" mode a go. Do I need to switch the battery to SMA ?

I suspect not, but no harm in trying. Sorry I can't be more specific; I have a Solis (in fact 2 of them), but have DIY battery, so not familiar with Seplos specifically.

You cant use the Pylon protocol from Seplos to the Solis, Use either AoBo on the inverter of the default setting. The BMS will handle the rest.
