Soft Start suggestion for Pool Filter Pump

Am considering trying to run our pool filter pump off our 2 Ecoflow DP with 230V combiner. The pump is 2HP, 230V, with startup current of 44A and 9A running. We have a Micro-air EasyStart soft start unit for our AC, and it works great with the Ecoflows. But Micro-air is not forthcoming in saying their units will work on pumps like this. Does anyone have experience or suggestions for soft start units for pool filter pumps? Appreciate it.

Maybe Replace the pump motor with a variable speed motor. I think most of them soft start. Then you can run the pump at reduced rpm to save power.
Good idea, although I was hoping to not spend that much. Our current unit is a Jandy, and I'd like to replace it with the same brand.

One thing to consider is that variable speed pumps still start on high for priming the pump.

Yes, they do have a priming cycle but on some models that RPM is adjustable also and they do ramp up to speed so no surge. Of course the inverter has to be capable of delivering sufficient current at the effective priming RPM for the 5 min or whatever the priming cycle timer is set for.

We have a Pentair SuperFlow VS 1.5HP on our waterfall-wading pool. Has been in operation since 2016, absolutely no problems, and at 1500 RPM provides adequate volume for the waterfall and only uses 200W. They are expensive but based on performance so far, I would recommend the product and say its worth the price.

Alternatively, if the Jandy pump has a conventional induction motor with a capacitor I suspect an HVAC softstarter would work.

Have heard good things about Pentair. Appreciate the information!

I have a Pentair pool pump with VSD. Excellent pump. Runs fast for about 6 hours during off peak rates and slow during on peak rates. Three periods to program for each day for speed and time. Never a surge, always a ramp up or down when speed changes.
