Hi

I have an inverter / mppt / ac charger which could theoretically supply 120amps of charge.

I was going to puchase the ANT bms but noted its max charge is only 50amp. Can anyone recommend something similar features (smart and temp sensors etc) thats still simply, relatively cheap, and has a 100amp charge rating?

Thanks in advance

Ok its a 24 volt pack.
What battery chemistry?
What is the cell configuration of the battery?
What is the ah rating per cell?
What is the continuous watt rating of the inverter?
What is the peak rating for the inverter and how long can the inverter sustain it?

i have a ANT BMS and works very well you can buy them in various charging amps i have the 300 amp version but you have to derate themby half so 150 AMPS i tested mine at 100 amps with no problem.

the chemistry they can do is LI-ON LTO LIFEPO4

Good Question
24v
8 pack, 280ah eve cells
3000w inverter
peaks at 6000 for 30sec i think.

Are you sure thats the charge, not the discharge rating? I can only see 50amp charge ratings on them all?

What inverter do you have?
Double continuous rating for 30 seconds indicates a low frequency inverter.

Still on the boat - but an easun isolar SMV 3K PLUS

it says surge power 6000 but no time specified.

How much does it weigh. Low frequency inverters typically have a large transformer.

Oh I see its an all in one.
Very unlikely to be low frequency.
You need a bms capable of 143.75 amp continuos.
For a commodity fet based bms you should look for something rated for 200-250 amps.

im interested in the charge rating as much as the discharge rating.
the ANT bms (to the best of my knowledge) are only 50 charge 300/400 dis

the daly bms is looking okay

Typically I plan for discharge of 1c and charge of .2c and then add headroom accordingly.

@Ryang your charge c rate is ~.45c.
If you don't mind my asking, why so high?

I am really just targeting 75amp charge.
This is for our full time on the road caravan, so in bad weather i want the generator to be able to charge at full capacity. The Inverter AC charger is 60 amp (+15amp to allow for any solar overhead at the same time). Just trying to maximise charge, minimise time charging / noise and petrol.

for the road caravan 75 amps:eek: you need a lot of PV to cover that.

with 1200w you never get 60 amp charging;) you need to use ac charging with solar to hit 60 amps.

spot on.

the ac charger alone is 60amp.
im giving a little overhead of any light on the panels trying to allow for 75amp.

id prefer to buy the ANT bms, just the specs spooked me stating 50. if your doing 70amp for longish period of time (like 2 hours) then thats great news.

you can charge with more than 50 amps with a ant bms;) this morning 71 ampsView attachment 19421
Hey Barry , that's interesting. I want to charge up to around 75 amps with my ANT bms, did you have to change any parameters? or have you noticed any excess heat or issues when charging with the higher current? I'm currently limiting the output from my victron SCC to 50amps so as to not exceed the 50a charge. but am actually able to pull close to 75amps in full sun.

i have my ANT BMS for almost a year now and everything still works fine even with high charging current no excess heat or issues:).
No i did not change any parameters only the bisic stuff you have to do with lithium.
