Hi Folks,

I am posting this in here as many seem apparently unaware about MIdnite Solar Inc (USA) and the various products they make. Given a large majority of people here are looking at smaller systems for their cabins, rv's & boats, I felt I should highlight this product line for people to consider.

Disclosure: I have NO TIES at all with MIdnite Inc, I'm just a very satisfied customer. The few minor support issues I had were immediately handled in a most proactive & efficient way and I have to say I am not only impressed with the company, it's products but the support available as well. They Treat you like a Customer, NOT a Consumer !

Now ETL listed to UL1741, CSA 22.2 and UL458. This may be the only MPPT controller listed for use on marine craft and RV's

The KID is the most versatile medium sized charge controller on the market, ideal for small renewable energy systems. The KID allows for true input paralleling. As your power needs grow, add more modules to the array and a second KID. This will give twice the power from a single array.

The KID's HyperVOC feature allows up to 162VOC . (The KID will not be harmed by voltages between 150 and 162VDC (this is the HyperVOC range). However the KID will remain in standby until the voltage is 150v or below.)

The KID "Kit" $650 USD MSRP
Includes:
  • MidNite KID MPPT charge controller
  • MidNite Big BABY box
  • 2 of our MidNite MNEPV30 breakers, One for the PV input and one for the battery output
  • 1 of our 63 amp DC ground fault breakers for the PV side of the KID
  • 1 Battery temperature sensor
  • Conduit and adapters
  • Wire and strain reliefs ETC
  • Built in Arlington, WA USA
  • Warranty - 5 yrs.

Just a bump to say I love the KID. Have used it now since release, 4 years going strong and like the classic's from them you get full control of the charge profile.

A lot of these up on eBay lately due to some big installer bankruptcy. I'm looking for a good one for 48v LiFePO4. But not sure which to look for. Here is an example of the deals:

Be Aware that there are a bunch that were custom made for a company which are now up for sale... They do not have all the features & functions.
see the main Midnite Site http://www.midnitesolar.com/ which has an article on those. Lack of certain functions like AUX1 & 2 or having a Wizbang.

One nice thing about the 30a Kid that the Classics don't have is a up to 30a programmable load out. Can charge 2 battery banks with a cheap controller between load out and the 2nd. bank during the Kids float if one wants.

G'day Steve_s
The KID is my fourth controller, the first was PWM, the others (MPPT) failed, the load out failed powering LED strip ?

I had The KID beta since May 2014, something in the MPPT went belly up ?!
The customer service was outstanding it was fixed returned ? and went belly up again ?!! They sent a replacement with new breakers and got to keep the beta ?, still kinda works !
The KID replacement has not skipped a beat since, I ? MY KID...
I have just recently set up the Stack port serial communications (with the help of the beta KID), it's working, just ironing out the gremlins, look'n good though.

I think of MidNite Solar having a outstanding customer service, strong product reliability and 5 year warranty was a very good bonus.

My KID to date has produced 686.8KWh of power and counting up and up...
