Hello, I'm new to the solar systems..

Maybe I stupid question.

I'm planning to use 4 pannels + Growatt SPF 5000 ES + SOK battery 48V 100A

JA Solar mono

Parameters AT STC

Pmax 405V
Vos 37,23V
Vmp 31,21V

Are 4 pannels (405wp) enough for growatt SPF 5000 ES to work? Maybe I will add more later, but are 4 pannels enough to start?
Or does Growatt SPF 5000 ES require more to proper work?

According to Growatt datasheet
MPPT Range @ Operating Voltage 120VDC ~ 430VDC

can you please tell me what is the maximum panels I can connect is serie?

Growatt Maximum PV Array Power 6000W
Solar panel is 405Wp
6000 W / 405 Wp = 14 panels

Growatt Maximum PV Array Open Circuit Voltage 450VDC
Solar panel open circuit voltage is 37,23V
450 / 37 = 12 panels

so 12 panels, am I correct?

So does this mean even if the inverter is started up with either DC batts or AC-in that it still won't collect and invert the solar energy unless the panels are sending 160V?

150V +/- 10V. Even then, if the solar irradiance is not high enough, the MPPT will pull it down.

12S would blow out the controller (destroy the MPPT) for anything much over 25°C

11S would be good to about 0°C for typical panel Voc temp coeff.

10S would be good to about -25°C.

Also, that unit has high idle consumption. It burns about 80W 24/7 just by being on with no loads running. That's 1920Wh or 1920/5120 = 37.5% of of your battery capacity is consumed by the unit, and 1-2 of your panels will be dedicated to replacing what it consumes.

The max number of panels has to be calculated by the PV Voc and the max MPPT Voc.
MPPTVoc / PVVoc x 1.15 = nr_of_panels_series
(forget anything on the right side of the decimal point, consider only the integer)

The factor 1.15 is given roughly because the panel Voc/Vmp increases 14-15% at -25deg Celsius.

If on tyour geographic zone the lowest temperature is different, you need to calculate the higher Voc from the PV datasheet (temperature coeficient voltage variation)

I ran Growatt SPF 5000 ES (screw removed and well insulated) with 4 cheapo 325-watt panels and it worked just fine with about 75 feet of #10 gauge stranded copper wire and insulated of course.
Top it off I live in Canada. Being power greedy I upgraded to 4 470 watt 78 cell - Bifacial panels. If you have the space (I do not) go with the 5 panels for the extra boost. Otherwise, 4 panels will work just fine. Be careful of the high voltage even on the (-) line to earth ground when all connected.

Hi do you think my 12awg pv1f solar cable will survive on 415watt x 4pcs about 100ft to inverter?
