Hello everyone,

I just tested my new EG4 6000EX under load and the display doesn't show Voltage Out, Load or Output voltage on L1 and L2. The inverter was drawing 12.43 amps from the batteries. The load on the inverter was a full-size refrigerator, mini-freezer, touch plate lighting system, router and cable modem. Those devices were receiving power. I have the Inverter configured without an AC IN connection, the output is connected to a rotary switch to allow me to either use the Inverter or Gas generator to the 30-amp breaker on the service panel which is protected by an interlock. I had originally connected AC IN from a 30-amp breaker on the service panel just for charging but removed it, you can see that in the last image (that was a no-load test). L1, L2 and Neutral are on the terminals of the rotary switch and the grounds are wire nutted together. Thanks in advance.

Not sure if this his helpful or not but i'm experiencing the same/similar problem. What I noticed is that the EG4 setting for battery type using the BMS communication cable causes the display screen to hang and not update. I removed the communication cable and set up user settings for the battery options. I'm opening a ticket with Signature Solar on it, and i'll post back here when I learn more.

Just got the firmware. Going to flash it on a couple units we have here to make sure it is working as advertised. I will comment a link to the firmware as soon as testing is complete.

I just got up and running last week and have the exact same issue. when I first powered on just connected to batteries all displays worked as they should. With AC switched on or PV array on my displays look exactly like yours, no data.

Received an email from Aaron from SS to a link for the new firmware. I'm happy to announce the new firmware corrected my display issue. SS thanks for the support.

I'm having the same issue. Strange that the system has been running for over a month no issues, then I noticed the solar app stop updating and also the display on the inverter two days ago. It still charges from solar and show how many KWH per day to no PV voltage, Watts and no output voltage, load, watts etc. Other than that the system is working providing power.
Where do I download the Firmware or what is the procedure to update the firmware?
Thanks,

My two parallel inverters will only accept PC input from 1 string of 8.....nothing from the other. They keep switching their roles between host and slave, sometime they both are host and both slave...setting 11 that needs to be set at 120 amps for max PV charging keeps changing itself to 10 amps or sometimes 50 amps. They each seem to work fine separately but will not play well together. Frustrating.

After the update you'll get the display to update when connected to EG4 batteries. You'll also get a new error code 69 which is not documented anywhere but means the batteries are full. (when they are full)

Are your pv strings brought to a common bus before going to the inverters? I've seen this problem come up when done that way. It makes the inverters fight over the amperage and they don't like it.

No, each string of eight is on it's own wiring and goes directly into each inverter. IMO switch at panels, 60' run. They each work fine alone....not so much together. I have eight more panels waiting to go into another EG4 6000 if I can ever get the two to work together. With all three I should be able to run my whole house....will need a couple more batteries though.

I finally updated the firmware last night, first for the inverter then it restarted then the second update for the display. The display started working again but today I noticed it will still hang up. I shut the system down PV and Battery for about 20 min brought up the batteries without PV. The output for the load was working and updates ever 3 seconds. I then turn on the PV which it showed the PV input voltage of 309 volts and 1kw which varied with the sun. I went back and checked the loads and they had stopped responding?? I then powered down the inverter this time I didn't disconnect the EG4 Battery's or PV and then unplugged the RJ45 plug to the remote display and plug it back in. It then came up and worked for about 25 min (PV and Loads) and hung up again. These problems don't effect the inverter as far as charging or producing AC output, just the display output and of course the software.

What is the next steps??

I noticed if I unplug the BMS connection from the EG4 batteries going to the inverter for a few seconds then the display will start again but of course I get the error 61. Then I plug it back in and it will work for about 15 min.

So if I want to know my PV input or Loads just unplug the data cable and plug it back in, how convenient :( Every now and then I can get an update from the app.

What is the next steps??? SS?

Reflash just the display fw. I've seen this before and a reflash will typically fix the problem

Well I downloaded the Firmware from EG4electronics from Feb 24th the one for residential. I ran from the folder with the Display flash app, It stated the dis.hex file could not be found. I noticed the back light on the display turned off at this point, this is what happen when I updated the first time but this time the displayed has died. I can turn on the inverter and it still charges and runs but I get nothing out of the display, no txt no back light. I later found the dis.hex file is actually in the folder for the CPU flash.
Just as a note I have worked with other RS232 updates to Cisco routers, firewalls, switches etc for 23 years, never have I had so much problems trying to update equipment.

It seems to me this system would be better if we could use a terminal program to update config files or .bin or hex files with a way to roll back if needed.

How can I get another remote Display for the EG46000ex? I would also like to have a spare and also want to buy more inverters but first need to know this one will work. What is strange is the system worked for about 2 months before the display started hanging up.
Also I ran the EG43000 for about 2 months and it seem to do pretty good just some problems with the software.

I'm running a single EG4 6000Wex inverter on 4 lithium batteries 100A each, after connecting the battery to the inverter the system worked for few minutes then started displaying 61, this happened twice and now the inverter is not displaying output voltage, please help me reset the AC output voltage?
