Hi,

I have a couple of questions and also looking for any feedback on my new lithium battery and inverter install in a camper van with existing solar.

I'm moving the lithium batteries inside but trying to preserve the OEM battery wiring on the outside (where the lead batteries where located)

You can see in the picture my proposed location for the new lithium battery (100 ah ea.) and 2000W inverter. The other item is the underseat AC unit. So the new items are very close to each other.

My questions are:

1. Is 6 AWG wire ok for the new run of wire from the OEM busbars to the new location (its about 15') ? The positive would be connected to the one battery and the negative to the smart shunt.

2. Do I connect the negative from the inverter to load side of the shunt? If so, is that also 2/0 wire?

3. Do my inverter and battery wire sizes seem ok? Different sources sometimes have different recommendations.

4. Fuse size ok?

Thank you

There is not enough information to adequately answer. Need to know worst case power demand (voltage * amps). If you are talking 12 VDC, that size wire is likely inadequate. What is the maximum amperage your inverter can process? Mine can do 150amps, so I ran 2/0 battery cable for 8’. I think the 6ga has to be 2/0 (2000w / 12 VDC = 166 amps)

Your 200 Amp (DC rated) breaker is fine. Get rid of the 30 amp breaker in original battery box.

Hi,
Tks for the reply. Here is the answers to your questions per my calcs using formulas found on this site. But let me know if I did it wrong (first time),

185 amp; max continous (2222/12)

2222 max power (2000W/0.9)

So you are saying the 6 ga wire should be 2/0?

What about the connection tot he smart shuntt?

Thank you

Agreed. Shunt is carrying same amperage so same size 2/0.
