Hi All, been down this rabbit hole known as diy lifep04 for a couple months now... I`ve built a small 32ah battery for the oil pan preheater on my Subaru with a JK B2A8S20P-H bms in a Maxitrac battery box complete with heating pads and a heat distribution plate under the cells. Works great! :) I`ve bult a proof of concept 24v power backup for the gf`s house in the frozen north with 2 100a 12 Chins smart batteries wired in series with a 24v Victron 1200va inverter.

Now its time to build a larger permanent battery to replace the 2 chins batteries that were purchased before I was comfortable building a battery from scratch. The biggest question at the moment is an enclosure for said battery.. In my mind I`m looking for a diy enclosure simlar to a Seplos Mason kit, something that I can bolt cells into and ideally add my own bms. Anyone have suggestions on 24v enclosures with or without BMS?

Also interested in this, would like to see what appears here with compression as described by EVE for their LF280k

Sorry to zombie a thread here, but has anyone used one of the 24v boxes yet? How much was cost and shipping? Any other options besides "bust out the plywood" out there?

Also, where do y'all get good 8s BMS's besides Alibabaxpress? I just need 8s, 150-200a, and bluetooth and all I'm finding are Daly's and WWAAYYY expensive 500a things.

What size 24v capacity wise, to run a 1200W 24v inverter you would need a battery that can output 50A or so.

Have you looked at this:
https://www.sunfunkits.com/product/122/sfk-v4-24v-lf105-eve-cells-kit

As you already are using a JK BMS it could be possibly transplanted into it. They have a heated jacket that may add in helping in the cold climates.

I've been happy with my 12v kit, allowed me to have a heated Bluetooth battery for around $875 using grade A 280K cells.

Check out this thread for some JK BMS info.

I was going to recommend looking at the SunFun kits as well. But I do not have experience with them.

I've used SFK kits for two 12v 302 AH batteries using their V3 kit & my own JK BMS's. I was impressed by the amount of thought and engineering they put into their components. Just note that the majority of their internals are 3d printed components. Not necessarily a bad thing but the finish on the printed parts is just "ok". Given that some of the vendors are selling slightly smaller 12v battery shells for $80+, the SFK kit is a decent deal with the additional components they supply.

I was able to get an early rev SFK BMS holder for my JBD 200a 4S, it might have been a prototype, I couldn’t think of an easier way to secure the BMS to my plywood battery box.

Sfk fan boy here!

I like everything except that 3d printed bms plate that they had in the earlier kits. I told them, this is not going to work.

Now that the bms mounting plate is fiberglass and has metal poles It is brilliant.

Also to anyone on the fence between the 150 amp or the 200 amp, go with the 150 because both will get too hot to draw 150A continuously.

I have 3 kits, 2 of the V4 w/150A bms and the a v3.5 also with 150A bms. Never an issue with the JBD bms they use is rock solid.

The $170 Basic kit seems to be a fair deal considering they are including 6 feet of silicone cable, cheapest I found on amazon was around $30.00 for 5ft or red/black color.

They have some coupons which basically a wash shipping.

18650store used to have a basic case like this in stock buts its been out of stock for months. However, you have to do a good bit of work to get it to work I don't think it will look like the SFK in the end.

Interesting developments none the less.
