Thank you for your response. Yes I have the wifi dongle. No options that I can find to do it via it unfortunately.Just browsed the entire website and PDF's and I cannot find it at all. Strange.
Do you have the wifi dongle connected too? Is there an option to upgrade through that?
Yeah I have. Also tried the contact us email on their australasia website...I noticed today that on the soliscloud app, there is now a button for "Inverter Control". I don't think I had noticed that before. Seems to be a meny resembling the physical control panel on the inverter. I do not see a firmware upgrade option there either however.Have you raised a support ticket with Solis? I haven't dealt with the Australian office, but the UK one were helpful and did the upgrade for me. If you haven't got the wifi connection they usually send out a USB upgrade stick which you put in place of the normal wifi logger and follow their upgrade procedure.
Worth mentioning that the whole reason I am trying to do this is in hope to get a Lead Acid option from the Battery section. I do not see one. when I purchased it I was told it supports lead acid batteries.
NOOOO.!!!! I so hope you are not right....I specifically asked that it needs to be able to support lead acid batteries... Does Solis support downgrading firmware? I am not sure that I will be able to get anywhere with the supplier as far as changing the inverter. It has been over a year now since installation.Solis Storage Inverters ( in the USA ) are UL9540 and only have options for qualified battery partners with the recent firmware, there are no lead-acid options and if your inverter does not have that option, it isn't supported. In the original released firmware for the 5G HVES, there was a user defined option, but has been removed as it was intended for manufacture testing, not intended for end-users
Thank you for your reply. That dongle looks like the wifi stick hanging off the bottom of the inverter. Is that it or something different?Solis inverters require a usb stick / dongle to update firmware and you need to get that from your regions customer service, whom will also provide the binary file.
For USA users, this is the current firmware files, you can download, but still need the dongle which you need to log a ticket to get.

Its different, its specifically for updating the firmware and has a USB port that you would insert a USB memory stick with the firmware into.Thank you for your reply. That dongle looks like the wifi stick hanging off the bottom of the inverter. Is that it or something different?
Does Solis support downgrading firmware?
The inverter does, whether you can get older firmware and the updater stick you will have to log a ticket with support in your region and find out.
You can always do LifeP04 an option, the prices have come down considerably and it is a no mess option. Lead Acid sucks, been there, have the tee-shirt.
If the inverter will run without communications, you could just pick any LifePo4 battery as the charging voltages would be safe for your free batteries. I don't know if that is an option as we don't have access to the 48V Hybrids in the USA.Hi guppy, I appreciate all your responses. My reason for lead acid is that I have access to FREE ex UPS batteries from work. I get to pick the best ones when they get replaced on a schedule. So past couple of months I have cherry picked and charged and tested a whole bunch of batteries and was now looking at installing them. What a waste of effort...I don't know about the USA but in Australia the LifePo4 batteries are not that cheap.
If it's like our EU/UK ones, there should be a User Defined battery option where you can set voltages and currents manually. It should work without comms, but won't show the SOC%.If the inverter will run without communications, you could just pick any LifePo4 battery as the charging voltages would be safe for your free batteries. Are they if you factor in longevity?LiFePo4s are more expensive than LA, but the 80-90% DOD helps a lot.
Good question. I've only had my Pylontech US2000Cs for a year, so ask me again in 15 years or so - by which time I will probably have upgraded as new technologies come out and prices drop considerably. Are they if you factor in longevity?
Hmm, but that relies on my longevity exceeding 15 yearsGood question. I've only had my Pylontech US2000Cs for a year, so ask me again in 15 years or so...
I have the same Inverter and also faced the same challenge when initially commissioned as at the time I had a bank of functional Lead Acids with the intention of riding them out before moving to LifePo4. The sticker on the side of the inverter explicitly states under the Battery info that it is compatible with both Lithium and Lead Acid. I too did not have the Lead Acid as a battery option initially. Logged a call through my local Solis, they remotely connected and did a firmware change, and the Lead Acid battery type showed up after. So, the inverter most certainly supports it and so does Solis themselves.NOOOO.!!!! I so hope you are not right....I specifically asked that it needs to be able to support lead acid batteries... Hey - there is another member on here (and on the OZ whirlpool forums @wattsmatters) who has a bank of LA - BEHIND - a bank of LiFePo4 - you would have to read up on the whirlpool forums for all the details - but essentially he allows the smallish LiFePo4 bank to do all the daily heavy lifting and then the LA is a standby/ low cycle optionHi guppy, I appreciate all your responses.
