I have a Growatt SPH 3000TL BL-UP inverter. I plugged the Solar Assistant into the USB port. logged onto the solarassistant website okay and selected my Growatt Model (SPH) Battery "Use inverter values" it then says "No Matching Devices" What am I doing wrong any advice will be appreciated. Thank You.

Are you certain you have the correct cable? Sounds like it isn't communicating properly. Assume you followed the setup guide:

my inverter only has a USB port which was occupied by the wi-fi dongle. Theres no where else to plug it in. I used a USB cable.

Did you make a cable for it? Standard USB doesn't seem to work. That's why the instructions show how to make two different USB to RJ45 cables.

Jumping in here, looks like there are different methods for different types of Growatt inverters. You mentioned yours is a Growatt SPH 3000TL BL-UP. Since it's the SPH model you have two choices.

Yeah, but I didn't see mention of using the serial port, which is a cable you can just buy and plug in. ;)
There is no serial port. They must of changed the ports one my model. The USB doesn't work anymore. There is no RS232 port. The only thing a could try is RS485 port. But that is enclosed so I'll have to take the case off. Then cut cables with the correct adapter, which is all a bit above my skill set. Either I send the solar assistant back or see if an electrician can do it. Believe me if I could just plug a cable in I would have it working by now. They obviously don't like any other monitoring system other then there own, which would be okay if it want so bad.

hey gavin - if you have a new BL-UP you can plug SolarAssistant in to either the 485-2 port or the VPP port. If you use the 485-2 port though you need to put the port in to VPP mode using the menu screen on the front of the inverter. The VPP port should need no config.

You will need an RS485 adapter to plug into the SolarAssistant device which you can buy on Amazon - something like THIS:

The RS485 and VPP ports are standard RJ45 ports - so you can use a standard ethernet cable. Cut one end off and attached the Blue/White and Orange/White cables in to the A+ and B- ports as per this picture. I have 2 as I have 2 inverters.

The Solar Assistant PI should recognise the device and pick up the inverter.

Hope this helps

Just so others are aware, this worked a treat, thank you very much
