I am looking to buy some more cells. Shenzhen Luyuan is often recommended. You have to sign up to Alibaba to order or contact the seller. Reading terms and conditions makes me reluctant to use Alibaba. Any way to buy from Shenzhen Luyuan with out signing up to Alibaba?

Have never had an issue with Alibaba in over a decade.
You have options too, you can use your Google Login or others.

Creating an account also provides more tracking via the messenger but also a transcript of the discussions, questions & quotes which can come in very handy, especially over prolonged chats.

Which part exactly?

Disclaimer: I have an Alibaba Platinum account, and have bough tens of thousands of euros through them for both myself and my company.
Pretty well all of it . Seems like you need to be a lawyer yo understand what they are saying. The gist of it seems to be they can use any information you give them to do any thing they want with it. It was basically so many terms and conditions that I wonder if anyone reads it . Did you read it? If you did , did you understand it? From memory, something about ,it was for business use and personal use would invalidate any guaranties or rights you might have.

When looking at T&C first look at the jurisdiction the contact is in. For Alibaba when you are outside mainland China then it's Singapore, then ask yourself how are you going to afford taking civil action in Singapore against Alibaba for misuse of your personal data. Even if the T&C,s gave you full rights for personal data you effectively could never enforce it.

If you don't like what you see and feel that you are risking your life & security then don't sign up and move on.
Do what you want to do or not do, its all on you.

Yes, and so did my lawyers. It's a B2B business portal that is used world wide to connect businesses. These terms and conditions are standard, and as someone mentioned, the jurisdiction is China anyway (assume everything is shared). But how much info are you really sharing? You just need an email address, and the shipping address is given to the individual seller once you decide to buy.

Also, remember that 'member' in the case of Alibaba also includes large companies across the globe, not just individuals - and that you can actually also sell on the platform.

Compared to some other T&C's I've seen over the years, these are actually clear and well written.
