In February 2023, EG4 announced a significant change to how their inverters do grounding and bonding. Overall, these changes allow for much greater flexibility in installing the inverter in ways that are both supported and meet the NEC requirements for grounding and bonding. This document describes what was announced and goes into detail on how to use the information to properly set up a system using the EG4 6500 EX inverter.
This is the video they released to announce the changes.
In June 2023, EG4 released a single version of the firmware that allows the user to select Mobile or Stationary bonding behaviour
The new firmware versions are available at https://eg4electronics.com/downloads/
WARNING: The designs shown in the document are based on the information EG4 has provided. However, I have not personally tested all of them.
NOTE: Previously there was a similar resource that discussed both the EG4 6500 EX and the MPP 6548. This document replaces the EG4 portion of the older resource.
EDIT: 5 March 2023: Changed "Common Neutral Firmware" to "Stationary Firmware" in order to align with EG4 nomenclature.
EDIT: 23 July 2023: Updated document to reflect the new dual mode firmware.
