WTB Solarever 410W panels near NC

These are great panels, I have 12, looking for 10-12 more.

SolarEver 410w panels, are they good?

Wonder how much they are when directly ordered. I have 12 of them running (picked up in Savannah from Santan), they perform very well under all conditions and look great. Still kicking myself for not buying more from Santan while they were still in stock, any ideas where I can buy 12 more...

Victron is Over-priced Eurotrash. Why would anybody buy Victron over an AiO?

thanks for the tip - I also regard the wired connection as more reliable, and when I rebuild my batteries to 48V with a JK BMS/active balancer I will add a hard wired 485 connection. I won’t rely on the data though; day to day control will still be via the Victron smart shunt

Victron is Over-priced Eurotrash. Why would anybody buy Victron over an AiO?

I was inspired by this post to also hook up a Raspberry Pi 3 with Venus OS and then installed @BradCagle's python code to use BT to read one of my JBD BMSs, after a bit of fiddling it works very well, I also now have two VRM connections! Thanks to Brad to putting this out there, and also we...

Victron is Over-priced Eurotrash. Why would anybody buy Victron over an AiO?

I wonder why there are very few mentions in this thread about the difficulty of getting Victron equipment to support NEC requirements? I’m very happy with Victron reliability and the VRM ecosystem but all-in-ones ones like SolArk or EG4 have built in support for GFP and AFP; this seems almost...

Corrosion - electrolyte leakage?? Outgassing? Has anyone seen this?

No argument from me, tinned lugs are definitely better; the only kind I use now. Curious, how long did it take to generate the pictured pitting?

Corrosion - electrolyte leakage?? Outgassing? Has anyone seen this?

Positive side is tin plated, but the negative side is copper. I used conductive paste but in subsequent builds I used all plated lugs. Also drilled and tapped extra holes in the busbars for the BMS leads in later builds.

Corrosion - electrolyte leakage?? Outgassing? Has anyone seen this?

more replies than I expected...good idea to check the bottom of the cells. I’m able to see the edges at the bottom by removing the sides, no sign of electrolyte leakage. The thermocouple leads have a bit of odd liquid on them, I wiped everything off, added more heat shrink around the affected...

Corrosion - electrolyte leakage?? Outgassing? Has anyone seen this?

Wondering if anyone else on the forum has seen this - after operating this 4s pack daily for about a year (in series with another 4s pack), I've noticed this white corrosion on the heat shrink and in particular on the thermocouple leads from the BMS, which has the insulation partially eaten...

Schneider Electric SW 4024. Incorrect battery current displayed on system control panel

Agree - I have the same unit (SW4024) but monitor with the Insight Gateway rather than SCP. I have found the DC current measurements (and for that matter AC load measurements) to be wildly off at the low end. I simply use the Victron shunt (with Cerbo GX) to monitor power at this point and...

Best gas generator for a backup battery charging?

It wasn’t quite bad enough at first; when I finally realized that it wasn’t working properly it was too late to return

Best gas generator for a backup battery charging?

I have been less than happy with my Honda EU1000i - like many on here I went with the Honda based on their reputation for reliability and quiet operation. However, the unit I bought must have been a lemon as I have not been able to get good, stable operation at full power (although no...

looking to buy used solar panels, need thoughts.

Any other recommendations from the forum for sources of used panels, preferably on the East coast? I know Santan is opening also in Savannah, I'm also looking at panels from Signature Solar.

looking to buy used solar panels, need thoughts.

I bought 10 of the Santan (Trina) panels last May and they all worked just fine, yielding close to rated power on the best days. Typical in September-October at mid day seems to be around 1700W for 2250W nominal (my array is 3x3). Shipping was expensive though and when I looked recently is...

Ordered 8 EVE "new" 280Ah cells from Shenzhen Luyuan

I didn't use a battery tester to generate the graphs, just used the JBD BMS to read out cell voltages and then put the data in Excel. Capacity on the first pack came out just as expected, roughly 286Ah as measured by a shunt during discharge testing down to the first cell reaching 2.9V. I...

Ordered 8 EVE "new" 280Ah cells from Shenzhen Luyuan

Very happy with the matching of cells from Shenzhen Luyuan. I assembled a first pack of 4 cells, added a BMS and started top balancing with a bench supply to charge the pack, using the BMS to cut off when the first cell reached 3.65V. Initial balance as received was very good, as shown by the...

Ordered 8 EVE "new" 280Ah cells from Shenzhen Luyuan

Well, it took a very long time, but I finally received my 8 "new" 280 Ah EVE cells from Amy at Shenzhen Luyuan. All cells arrived well packed and in excellent mechanical shape, I will now start top balancing and putting together a battery for capacity testing. I am very happy with the company...

    Panel power production/tracking

I just bought the Cerbo GX - judging from the demo program (I don't yet have the required VE.Direct cables) the data displayed is pretty basic. Nowhere near the minute by minute data graph I can see using the Bluetooth connection direct to the Victron device. Am I missing something? All I want...

Schneider SW4024 initial review/use with Victron MPPT

Maybe my expectations for the online software were too high. It does an adequate job of reporting daily totals for load and battery consumption, but is not useful for showing me instantaneous details. I wonder if the CerboGX (when the connection works) does a better job of minute by minute...

32 280Ah Eve "grade a" from Shenzhen Luyuan (Amy Wan)

Are you concerned at all about long term corrosion between the copper bus bars and aluminum terminals? I'm also using copper but eventually want to get around to tinning the leads. I'm curious about what others are doing.

Schneider SW4024 initial review/use with Victron MPPT

After a couple weeks of operation I thought I would share a few more notes on the SW4024. First, the inverter has, so far as I can tell, functioned flawlessly. It starts all the loads I want it to, and for medium to large loads has good efficiency, >90%. I chose this as it seemed to be by...

Schneider SW4024 initial review/use with Victron MPPT

Thanks - glad to hear that you've been satisfied with long term operation. I assumed I would need to fiddle with the charging parameters to make it work - most likely I will just leave the charger disconnected unless I need it. Any quirks of operation or failures that you've noticed?

Schneider SW4024 initial review/use with Victron MPPT

I forgot to mention - does anyone have experience using the Victron MPPT Smart Solar series with the Schneider inverter? I don't really expect that I'll be able to connect the Xanbus (Schneider proprietary interface) to the Victron, just wondering about settings that will allow the built in...

Schneider SW4024 initial review/use with Victron MPPT

I haven't seen much out there on the Schneider SW4024 recently so I thought I would share my initial impressions after getting it installed. My primary reason (as usual) for a split phase inverter was to be able to start my well pump. This inverter is rated at 3400W continuous but 7000W for a...

Results of testing new panels from Santan Solar

Yes, I measured the panel temperature at about 125F - this should drop the efficiency by around 10-15% from 25C. Panels I bought weren’t the snail trail ones by the way, I bought them just before the price increase, they are the standard Trina silver frame panels. The only downside to these...

Results of testing new panels from Santan Solar

I had a good experience with SanTan solar - I was a bit hesitant to try used panels but the price is too good to pass up. I ordered 10 of the 250W silver frame (Trina) panels at $50 each plus about $250 total shipping with delivery to the local Central freight terminal. The packing was good...

Ordered 8 EVE "new" 280Ah cells from Shenzhen Luyuan

So far very happy with the response from Amy at Shenzhen Luyuan - payment received 7/9, on 7/17 Amy posted pictures of the wrapped boxes and a link to the measured data (shown below) - I'm not exactly sure at one point the voltages are measured in their test routine, presumably after full...

    Last fire.. :-(

Thanks for sharing @fhorst - perhaps we can learn from your experience. It is a good (and very visual) reminder that the energy stored in LFP batteries can be extremely hazardous; we all need to take appropriate precautions.
