thanks for the tip - I also regard the wired connection as more reliable, and when I rebuild my batteries to 48V with a JK BMS/active balancer I will add a hard wired 485 connection. I won’t rely on the data though; day to day control will still be via the Victron smart shunt

No argument from me, tinned lugs are definitely better; the only kind I use now. Curious, how long did it take to generate the pictured pitting?

Positive side is tin plated, but the negative side is copper. I used conductive paste but in subsequent builds I used all plated lugs. Also drilled and tapped extra holes in the busbars for the BMS leads in later builds.
