AC inverters in series, will it work?

So I have a Generac pwrcell system 7.6k inverter with 12kw of battery and 11kw of solar panels which is grid tied. I'm looking at doing an addition to my house and got quoted $17k to add 4.5KW of solar and a 2nd generac inverter so I'm debating on trying to do something DIY. My current thought is add more panels to my addition and a new inverter, this would be a dedicated sub panel and I'm wondering if I can feed the output from my generac system into the "grid" feed on the new inverter and would the new inverter work to power just my addition and if there was a power outage just feed from the generac system as if it was the grid? I would set the new inverter to not feed back into the generac system as I'm sure that would cause problems. Has anyone ever done something like this or have suggestions?

Just set the new system up as an off grid system, with grid backup. And it will do what you want.
