Active/Passive balancers, the best debate in batteries. Balancing in Absorption?

I assume that was a mistype and you meant 3.2? Don't want to confuse noobs:)
THANKS FOR THE CATCH !
Edited now. Balancing starts @ 3.420 on my systems.

In fact, just went out to have a peek see at my packs.
Here is 280-1 which is made from EVE 280AH Bulk Cells (not even K) from XUBA. 4 years old now and my most "cranky" pack.
This is 1.5 hours after entering FLOAT mode. The rest of the packs are the same or better Cell Volt. Diff.

My take on balancing.

I charge to 55V with up to 0.5C current (depending on availability of PV)

If no cell goes over 3.5V before 55V pack voltage the charger switches to 54V, and no balancing occurs.

If a cell reaches 3.5V, the voltage is held at 55V until it is reached, but current is limited to 20A while cells are balancing.

I have passive balancing for this, but also have active balancing which switches on if a cell reaches 3.55V.

In summer when the pack is frequently fully charged the balancer rarely comes into play.
