Busbar -use red for black and black for red?

When I mounted my fuse, my wires werent long enough, can i just use the red bus bar for black and the black for red? They look identical. I dont really want to swap them. Thks

Using incorrectly colour coded wire is not ideal, but in some cases unavoidable.

IMHO, if by 'swapping them' you mean undoing and re-connecting them, then take the time to do it properly now.

If it is unavoidable to use the correctly coloured wire (and the wire size / rating is still correct), then use coloured sleeving over the wire to indicate the correct polarity and attach a sticker nearby to explain the situation. This is important as someone else may be needing to perform maintenance in the future.

Do use sleeving though, not just coloured insulating tape, as the latter can fall off over time.

Agreed. I ended up taking things apart and putting them back together a number of times in order to get them right. Helps me sleep better at night knowing it was done right and won’t be misunderstood if someone else happens to work on it. Not likely but safer nonetheless.

Most of the time the bus bars will separate apart from the plastic when you get all the bolts off, so just swap the plastic while you have all the nuts and screws off anyways?
