CC blowing fuses

Brand new cheap cc blows fuses 30amp as soon as I power it up with a 12v battery. Nothing else is connected

Thought I screwed up when I installed it but wasn’t sure how. Anyway opened it up added fuse holders and put fuses in. As soon as I touch the wires connecting to a 12v battery both fuses blow

I’ve already got a better replacement but before I recycle this one any ideas.

Everything looks fine internally but something clearly isn’t

CC is internally shorted? What is the Ω reading when you check the CC battery terminals with ALL wires disconnected from the CC (PV too)?

1600 between the battery terminals, 260 between the panels 640 on the output

I should have said the lcd screen lights up and appears functional even with the blown fuses

That should allow no more than 7.5mA @ 12V. LCD shouldn't light up unless it can run for several seconds on whatever is stored in any capacitors present.

I'm stumped.

I’m stumped as well. Was about to toss it figuring it was just a faulty manufacturing defect but thought I’d ask here first

Red wires at the bottom are the fuses I added after the initial non-replaceable ones blew on my initial install
