Its a cold weld.

That connection was never crimped. There are no crimp marks and the connector is still nice and round.

There is no scenario I can think of that would allow wires to just fall out like that and remain in such nice condition. Its almost as if someone put the terminal on but forgot to crimp it.

usually it's that the wire is too big for the terminal so people just shove in what they can and leave the rest hanging out , at least it was a neg, ive seen pos leads like it, very close to bodywork/chassis ground
