No one ever gives us feedback on here...it's a blessing and a curse.
I'm taking the chance to take feedback constructively before it becomes destructive like other vendors on this forum.
Some things we are already working on:
- Hiring and training more technical support staff to spread the load of technical sales & support calls
- Dedicated web developer to improve UI and website experience.
- More complete catalog including Ironridge, Unirac, Tigo, multiple panel options and electrical panels, circuit breakers and wiring components so we can better offer complete solutions not just a majority of the solution.
What do you like and what can we do better?
Here is an idea for your company or any reseller in this niche:
When people diy build computers there are web sites that have categories covering all of the major components. As you pick a component it has the data needed to determine compatibility with other component categories.
I think one site used to be called pcpartspicker
or something like that.
I would like to suggest, that each distributor, or reseller, or even contributing experienced forum members create a similar service for diy Solar Power System Builders.
Inverters,
Batteries,
Solar Panels,
items needed for the PV electrical sources,
items needed for the 48V sources,
items needed for the AC sources,
Fuses
Breakers
Disconnects
Wire
Wire Lugs
Ferrules
BusBars
etc etc
Break down each category, to offer options.
Of the many issues i have encountered regardless of supplier, would include:
What is the most flexible 4/0 and 2/0 wire.
What busbars can handle 60V at 1000A or more,
for example an eg4 battery has max of 100A in and 100A out - so 6 in a rack = 600A in or out max,
if you want a disconnect between battery and busbar, it needs to be able to handle
60V at 600Amps. None of the easily located disconnects have both 600A and 60V capability.
If you have multiple racks at 600A max
two racks = max 1200A
4 racks = 2400A
try to find a bus bar rated for 60V at 2400A
so far it has been impossible
same for breakers between bus bar and aio inverters - what breakers meet criteria - none
so there are a lot of components in the ecosystem that are not offered by suppliers
that would make it much more convenient
for the diy customer to source if there was a one stop shop - we can not offer undersized breakers and later find out they overheated, we need safety designed into each category.
so that is my suggestion for all companies to consider
fyi - i have had good customer service from one of your sales team - although i have yet to make a purchase, i intend to merely because of his customer service
