I've read no so great stories about using Polaris connectors about how they loosen up over time. I have a manual transfer switch and I need a 3 pole tap.

Watching Engineer775 Youtube videos, he has been using some nice distribution blocks. I believe they are Mersen:

I've seen distribution blocks price to over $600. The Mersen is close to $300. Any affordable options available?

Perhaps I should just use a drop of blue locktite for the Polaris connectors?

Here is a link to a Marathon distribution block from Galco.com. This is one example they have a fairly good selection.

I did look at Galco. I may have missed it, but I could not find anything that could do 4/0 with a 1 into 2 3-Pole. I need to create a tap for L1, L2, and Neutral.

That link shows 2 AWG into two 6 AWG.

Input Wire Range600 kcmil-2 AWG
Output Wire Range250 kcmil-6 AWG

Input is 600kcmil at the largest to 2awg at the smallest, 4/0 is in that range. Output is 250 kcmil at the largest to 6 awg at the smallest, 4/0 is in that range as well.

Wire sizes above 4/0 specified in kcmil or mcm (same thing) that start at 250 and go up from there.

kcmil is also some times written as mcm

I did not look Ebay. Looks like a good source to find them. Price looks good too. It's not like these things can go bad.
So you want a single 4/0 in and 4/0 out preferably in a 3 pole block?

If so: eaton-bussmann-16306-3

Single 4/0 in and Double 4/0 out. I'll look there too.
