Inverter testing?

How would you guys suggest powering up a inverter if you don't have a battery to test it with?

I have some 12 volt switching power supplies that work great in series... So I could set them up to 48 volts or so

I figure that would at least allow me to power it up and maybe test the output voltage.. Of course I would not test the actual power output with a load

I’d rather not test it without a battery, but you may have your reasons.

It could surge enough to throw a spark, so depending on the inverter, I’d use a recharge resistor.

With the power supplies you mention, I’d be more prone to check a stand alone inverter like a Victron 48 volt 1200 VA than a 8 kW inverter.

For my 3000 watt 24 volt Samlex inverter, It can power up off the MPPTs only. I have removed the battery without shutting the MPPTs off and found that out. I had no load,

It looks like the LV 6548 can easily be tested by just hooking up some spare solar panels... Apparently they will suffer no damage and they are able to be operated in battery-less mode
