I have a small 300w variable lab bench power supply, but was wondering if I could use it off a modified sine wave inverter? I'm just not sure a modified sine wave is stable enough. Anyone know if modified sine wave power would hurt my lab bench power supply?

Probably not an issue. Would assume it's a switching power supply with a pretty wide input range and lots of filtering since it's purpose is to converter AC to adjustable DC.

MSW are most harmful to AC motors that run less efficiently and produce more heat when running from MSW.

If it is one of these common 300W switcher power supplies it will not matter. They convert to DC immediately. I run most of my equipment on 160VDC. Even the ones with transformers will work fine with MSW inverters.
