Hello everyone. New member. I'm looking to install a PV system on my shop to charge / maintain a 48VDC forklift. (Hyster E55XM-33). The battery pack for this machine is over $5000 and needs to be replaced. Not interested in another Lead Acid pack, so plan is to go to a LIFEPO4. Server rack batteries will physically fit to get me to 600ah if I go with 48vdc 200ah units, which should be adequate for our run time. I'm not certain of the demand load being too much for the server batteries though, will need to get real time draw amps from the machine first. This machine sits for days on end, rarely gets more than 30 minutes of use to unload a truck or trailer, bring 1-2 pallets in to the shop and sit again. I'm aware of the AH draw forklifts require for warehouse use throughout a full shift, but that is far beyond the demand load I need for a new battery pack.
Plan is to use the new pack for a battery backup in the shop when parked to cover critical loads using an EG4 6000xp inverter/charger for those circuits, mainly server, office desktops, alarm and modem. We'll add dedicated batteries to a server rack in time, but just want to get the forklift handled for now.
