For asking if someone had bought batteries from a particular website. It was labeled spam. Was this a mistake or is this one of those kind of forums so I know to logout and not look back?

Your choice of name when you joined the forum was obviously a poor one. Your thread/post may have been removed accidentally as part of changing your name away from the poor choice.

No there wasn't a rule specifically against it at the time, but there aren't rules specifically against many things in life. That doesn't mean it's OK to do 'what ever'.
