Off grid setup using hybrid AIO

Hello I was wondering if it is safe to use a hybrid inverter to power a critical loads panel via off grid connection. Currently I have a MLO subpanel which is currently fed by a 100amp breaker from the main panel via utility power. I would plan on using either an interlock kit or 100amp transfer switch to toggle between the hybrid aio vs 100amp breaker from main utility without any backfeed. If the subpanel obviously has separate ground neutral bonds from the main panel would this cause problems if the inverter is powering loads in the subpanel while the main panel is simultaneously powered by grid power? My plan is to gradually build the system larger until I gain independence. I appreciate the feedback.

An off-grid AIO can use the 100 amp line as grid input. It will work seamlessly, and not export to grid. No need for interlock. Put aio between main panel and sub panel.
