So I've picked up a set of the 280Ah cells a solar charge controller and panels and the chargery BMS. Next up are a set of tools and meters but a question for the more experienced:

Would you recommend I also pick up a set of lower AH cells to "learn" on? I want to wire them together on a board to ensure it all works before installing in my boat.

Wish I had seen Will's renogy B2B and MPPT video before I picked up the victron but oh well. I will need to figure out how this LIFEPO4 battery will tie into my alternator. The shorepower charger already has a LIFEPO4 setting.

Good idea to try out on a couple of smaller (10AH maybe) batteries. Because when you blow them up you will only cry a little. :) (LOL)

280AH are some seriously huge batteries/cells.

You could also just try it out on an old lead acid battery, then change the settings and add in the lithium one. I'm doing exactly this with my solar setup in my van with my main battery. Just trying it out (it'll be replaced soon anyways so if it gets fried no harm no foul :) )
