I’m new to solar power ..unless you count my garden lights.
I bought a cabin in Michigans upper peninsula. Just wondering if there are any recommendations on who I could go with?

Well we have no electricity yet. This summer we want to homestead up there. Going to have a well done. We are quite literally in the middle of nowhere, so no lines running. We have a basic cabin… looking to get some basic electric.

Consider Grundfos well pump. It is VFD drive so no surge, easier to power from inverter.
Consider a PV direct pump (variable speed depending on sun) if you want lots of water.

"energy audit", make a catalog of what you want to power. Running watts, starting surge watts, number of operating hours daytime, number of operating hours nighttime.
Consumer energy labels are a way to look up annual consumption.
Specs/labels give running watts.
Starting surge ("LRA") often not specified, assume 5x running watts.

Area for solar panels with decent exposure?

Consider security - things get stolen.

If you're looking for someone to install, besides google reviews this site gives reviews and companies must be in business for 5 years to get a review:

Here is a theoretical system with 10 kw of panels, 10 kWh of battery packs and 8 kWh of daily consumption in the Northern Peninsula.

Once you get your numbers, you can adjust it here:
